Walking here you have the sensation of being in a large open space in which to wander with your gaze towards infinite horizons characterized by the pungent smells of mint and wild thyme in the intense green of the wheat fields or rocky pastures among the evident yellow of the ferula , meeting orchids and lesser kestrels. In this land, emperors, farmers, shepherds, woodcutters, together with the climate, have made the landscape and its culture unique. On the way you will meet beautiful farms, you will cross oak woods, along the ancient sheep tracks of transhumance you will discover jazzi and post offices, you will travel along panoramic mule tracks and among the wheat fields you will admire ancient haystacks and fishing. On the hills, flocks of sheep will mingle with the characteristic sharp rocks that give this territory its name (murex = murice> murgia).

We will walk southwards along the Trani seafront to reach the path of the Cliffs. Along this rocky coast with high and continuous cliffs overlooking the sea, far from the city, it will be possible to admire the colorful bee-eater in spring-summer. A slender and colorful bird species that can reach a length of 25–29 cm including the two elongated tail feathers. These magnificent birds, with their unmistakable "crane-crane" sound, nest along the rocky walls. After reaching a shady pine forest on the sea, fascinating spontaneous orchids will sprout, these deceptive plants that with their strange shapes and colors always manage to attract, in addition to insects, lovers of nature and photography. The route will end in Torre Olivieri, a lookout tower located on the coast, in the Lama Paterna, an erosive furrow typical of the Apulian landscape, which conveys the meteoric waters from the karst plateau of the Murge towards the Adriatic Sea.

1) From the ancient Posta Santa Croce walking along the transhumance routes in Puglia. We will start from Dolmen La Chianca, a prehistoric megalithic tomb from the Bronze Age. Crossing one of the typical blades of this territory we will reach a vast complex of karst origin characterized by the presence of caves where in 1955 a femur belonging to an adult individual of Homo sapiens neandertalensis was found. 2) Along the sea with a fantastic coastline full of sea caves that they were inhabited since the Neolithic, as attested by the materials found by Majellaro and Prelorenzo. We will discover the Caves of Ripalta. Along this stretch of the Via Francigena you can also admire the typical Apulian rural landscape with its dry stone walls, haystacks and small houses. We will continue on a short stretch through a fantastic meadow of spontaneous orchids and we will be able to reach Cala Pantano, a small inlet created by the blades, erosive furrows typical of the Apulian landscape.
