Lake Bracciano (Lago di Bracciano)
The Basics
In addition to taking a dip or sail on the lake, visitors can explore the rolling countryside around Lake Bracciano via the hiking and cycling trails running to the Macchiatonda Nature Reserve and the Tarquinia Salt Marshes. Things to Know Before You Go
Day trips include time to explore the lakeside towns of foot, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothes.
The waterfront promenades are accessible to wheelchairs, but some of the town centers are steep and difficult to navigate.
A lake excursion is a fun break for kids and can include a dip in the water and walks along the shore.
Lake Bracciano and its surrounding towns are very picturesque, so be sure to bring your camera.
How to Get There
Lake Bracciano is just about an hour outside of Rome by car or there are regional trains from the Roma Tiburtina station to the town of Bracciano that take about 90 minutes to make the trip.

The lake is particularly beautiful in the spring and fall when the surrounding countryside is lush, but it you are hoping to take a dip in the water, time your visit for summer.
The Orsini-Odescalchi Castle
Lake Bracciano is also known for its Orsini-Odescalchi castle, built during the second half of 15th century by Napoleone Orsini and almost perfectly preserved. The castle was the site of the 2006 nuptials between actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
