Roman Forum (Foro Romano)

Largo Romolo e Remo, Rome, 00186

The Basics

The site is most often visited on three-hour tours that combine a visit to the ancient city with a Colosseum tour. Whether you choose a private tour or small-group tour, it's wise to visit with an expert guide who can help you navigate the large space and bring the ruins to life with true stories of gladiators, Roman emperors, and Julius Caesar. After your visit, check out the adjacent ruins at Circus Maximus or pay a visit to the Capitoline Museums to see the display of classical Roman empire sculptures.

Skip the Line: Colosseum Small Group Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill
A bit chaotic at the begining, and early part of tour due to very large group of 44 people. However, I understand Covid was the issue with this problem. Star of the show Serena our guide was brilliant, so professional & informative.

Sylvia, our tour guide was amazing. She was knowledgeable and funny. A pleasure to meet her. Sorry we had to leave before the end, my daughter was sick. They did add more people to the tour, ended up being a large group of 50 due to your guides being sick 😷 with COVID.

Our tour guide Naomi was very knowledgeable! She gave us a great tour. It was super hot the day of our tour but she made sure we all had water and we’re in the shade as much as possible. It was an incredible tour

Colosseum, Piazza Pantheon and Roman Forum Small Group Tour Skip the Line
It was mine and my partners first time in Rome and we booked this tour for our first day. I am so glad we did. Our tour guide, Hilary, was fantastic and took us to other attractions as well as the ones included. I would definitely recommend this tour and especially for your first day as the guides give you tips about what to do during your visit.

Second time being in the coloseum and the forum but it was my mams first time. She loved it the skip the line tickets are handy so you can just go in. You also can leave the coloseum or forum whenever you Want and go explore the other at your own pace.

Colosseum Arena Floor, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill
Federica, the guide, did an excellent job, keeping FOR 3 HOURS UNDER THE ROMAN SUMMER SUN the attention of our kids who enjoyed the stories she was telling. Awesome presentation and well spent money.

When to Get There

As the Roman Forum shares an admission ticket with the Colosseum, it stays consistently busy throughout the day and often has long lines. Choose a walking tour with priority access to jump the queue and maximize your time.

Discovering the Roman Forum Ruins

Inside the archaeological area, stick to the Forum’s main thoroughfare, Via Sacra, to pass by important ruins such as the Julia Curia and the house of the Vestal Virgins. Some of the forum’s most impressive ruins include the white marble arch of Settimio Severo, the first-century Arch of Titus, and the remains of the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine. If you can’t get enough of ancient Rome, there’s plenty more history just outside the city with day trips available to Pompeii and the Appian Way.
