The Basics

Both Salzburg city tours andThe Sound of Music tours often include a stop at Mirabell Palace and Gardens (Schloss Mirabell und Mirabellgarten), where visitors can explore the lavish palace interiors, stroll the landscaped gardens, and admire the grand marble Donnerstiege stairway. The palace’s ornate Marble Hall hosts regular concerts of music by Salzburg’s favorite son, Mozart.

An outstanding performance!!
This was a fantastic performance! - way above the skill level expected at such a concert. The lead violinist who stepped in and took over for the Four Seasons section, and again in the encore, performed brilliantly (if not entirely to the score?) and brought his colleagues along with him to present an outstanding rendition. Excellent!

Salzburg: Palace Concert at the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace
I thought it might be a cheesy tourist trap, but I was wrong. As a musician, I really appreciated the opportunity to experience Mozart and Vivaldi on baroque-style instruments. The musicians were incredibly talented and engaging. Would highly recommend if you love classical music! Make sure you get a front row seat!

Salzburg: Christmas Concert at Mirabell Palace
We enjoyed the place and of course the music was incredible. With category 1 ticket we got first row which worth it as we really connect with the musician performance. High quality concert. Was expecting the concert be more on a Christmas vibe or at least see a Christmas tree but none of it. But we really enjoyed it.

The music and setting far exceeded our expectations. The soloist violinist made Vivaldi's Four Seasons really come to life. Such passion, and talent. And the Marble Hall was beautiful. Intimate performance. Highly recommend.

As a conductor and violinist I expected a concert which was well played but nothing special but I was delighted by outstanding playing in authentic baroque/classical style. Best concert this year.

Exploring the Mirabell Gardens

Originally designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach in the 17th century, the Mirabell Garden is among the most impressive baroque gardens in Europe. The grand centerpiece is the Pegasus Fountain, around which the Von Trapp children danced during their rendition of “Do-Re-Mi” inThe Sound of Music. Other highlights include the Rose Garden, the Grand Fountain, the Hedge Theater, and the unique Dwarf Garden filled with knee-high marble garden gnomes.
