Daily 9am - 6pm (until 10pm on Fridays)
Paulus Potterstraat 7, Old South, Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Basics

The Van Gogh Museum is comprehensive yet not overwhelmingly vast; once inside, you can experience it in two to four hours. Touring the museum with a professional art historian, either on a group or private tour, is a great way to learn more about the master’s life and works. Many such tours also include a skip-the-line ticket, which allows you to bypass the crowds and head right inside.

Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam & 1-Hour Canal Cruise
I enjoyed sharing his storyline and the incredible talent. He was truly a genius and so talented. I missed the canal trip due to the museum closing for tech difficulties that had me coming back at a later time but the personnel let me right in at the later time without waiting. Truly. Remarkable memory.

Skip-the-line Rijksmuseum & Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam Guided Private Tour
Anna was so knowledgeable and just a delight to spend the day with! Highly recommend this tour! We were lucky enough to have Anna to ourselves in the morning for the Riksmuseum and then in the afternoon, there was 8 total in the group which made it very easy to follow and hear everything!

Great Experience in Amsterdam

Skip-the-line Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum Semi-Private Guided Tour
I find small group tours through museums are the perfect way to go and this was no exception. We met for the first museum in the morning, then had a break for lunch and met again for the tour of the second museum. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and I feel like we learned so much more than we would have through an audio tour. My 17 year old daughter was engaged throughout the day and enjoyed her time with our guide.

The Van Gogh Museum’s Notable Works

The Van Gogh Museum houses the world's largest collection of artworks by Vincent van Gogh, including famous canvases like Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, The Bedroom, and The Potato Eaters. Through van Gogh’s paintings, the museum chronicles the artist’s journey from Holland (where his work was dark and somber) to Paris and the south of France; of special note is the second-floor wall, which displays 18 paintings produced during this time. Another wing, set partly underground, showcases temporary exhibits by van Gogh and other artists.
