The Basics

Barron Gorge National Park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. The area is part of the Djabugandji Aboriginal people’s traditional lands, and their ancient walking paths serve as hiking trails of varying lengths, some equipped with boardwalks. For a watery adventure, opt for some white-water rafting on the Barron River. Alternatively, you can see the park from the comfort of the Kuranda Scenic Railway or the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.

Barron River White Water Rafting

Barron Gorge National Park Half-Day White Water Rafting from Cairns or Port Douglas
There was good rain in the region and the river was in good flow. With one set of rapids too high for the grading we were led up on land and past that set of rapids and back down to the river. This was just one example of great safety that the adventure companies operated at with everyone's safety at the highest level. The raft ride was terrific fun with great scenery and a sparkling, clear, sunny afternoon. Thanks to all the guides for their great effort and humour.

Transported to the beautiful, lush Barron River & Lake Placid. Guides were friendly, confident, experienced and safety conscious for all participants. Rafting was exciting and energising with rafting teams working together to manoeuvre the undulating river and rapids. A thoroughly enjoying experience!
