Yaxhá Tours and Tickets

star-5
65 reviews

Yaxhá was founded circa 800 BC along the shores of Laguna Yaxhá, and was home to more than 40,000 people at its peak, around AD 250. Though overshadowed by Tikal, this ancient city is Guatemala’s third largest archaeological site. And since it’s less visited than its famous sibling, Yaxhá offers a peaceful, introspective experience—especially for birders and Maya aficionados.

TIKAL NATIONAL PARK It covers 575 square kilometers of jungle and thousands of structures in ruins. Only the central part of the old city contains 3,000 buildings and covers about 16 square kilometers. Tikal is also part of the Mayan Biosphere Reserve of one million hectares created in 1990 to protect the dense forests of Petén, which began to disappear at an alarming rate due to population pressures, illegal logging and agricultural practices of felling and burning. Archaeologists estimate that the Maya settled in the area now known as Tikal in approximately 900 BC. BRIEF OVERVIEW: Yaxha is an archeological site approximately one hour from Tikal National Park and one hour from Flores. It is a place where you can enjoy nature and water, since the Park is between two lakes that can be seen from the top of some temples.

Enjoy The Sunset On Top Of A Mayan Pyramid In Yaxha - Private Tour From Flores

Enjoy The Sunset On Top Of A Mayan Pyramid In Yaxha - Private Tour From Flores

Yaxha is an impressive city located near Tikal. This city is less known but it certainly has a lot to offer. During your visit, you will walk in the middle of the jungle and will see a good number of Mayan constructions, squares, and stelae. The Yaxha and Sacnab lagoons surround this place, and from the top of one of the Yaxha pyramids, you can see a sister city called Topoxte. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest attractions of this site is to see the sunset over the "Temple of the Red Hands". This temple is so-called because at its top there is a red two-handed painting dating from the classical period when this city was booming. If you are looking for a unique tour and want to return with memories of moments that you will remember forever, then this is your chance. Enjoy the archeology, history, culture, and nature that this place offers. We will also give you a bottle of water and snacks so that this is an experience that you enjoy from start to finish. We will wait for you!
