The Basics

For the most comprehensive view of the Na Pali Coast, take a helicopter or flightseeing tour from Lihue or Princeville that will take you over top sights like Waimea Canyon and the Manawaiopuna Falls. For a closer look, opt for a guided kayaking trip along the dramatic Na Pali cliffs or choose a boat tour that includes a snorkeling or sailing adventure or a sunset dinner cruises. You can also hike the Kalalau Trail, which traverses 11 miles (17 kilometers) and provides access to remote beaches and hidden sea caves.

What a trip!
Captain and crew were informative, friendly and all around fun crew to have. Very attentive to passengers and snorkelers. Monitored swimmers with life guard on board a small surfboard. Food was great and ride was smooth. Coming back was very choppy with lots of seasick people due to the swells and hard hits against the bow of the ship. Overall a great time.

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Morning Snorkel Tour
The crew was great - Captain Greg, Jane, Ethan & one more. The meals/snacks were great, the boat was very nice & clean, very easy to schedule & we even had to change our day (was also easy), snorkeling was very good & the equipment was clean & worked well, the captain’s history of the Na’pali coast & the getting us under one of the waterfalls was great, finding two pods of dolphins & a breaching whale was cool, & the adventure was worth every dollar. Would do it again & recommend it to others.

RAFT ADVENTURE - Na Pali 1/2 Day Snorkel
Fabulous introduction to Kuaui! Captain Ian and First Mate Landon brought the stunning Na Pali coastline alive explaining what we were seeing with amazing stories of the history and culture of early Hawaiian life. The raft tour allowed us to see inside the caves and also the many waterfalls up close, and if you’re lucky, a huge pod of curious Spinner Dolphins. Snorkeling was also great; we saw sea turtles feeding and beautiful species of fish. Perfect for fit people of all ages.

Leila Na Pali Sunset Dinner Sail
It was great! We got to see bottlenose dolphins and even glimpse a whale! The Napali coast is gorgeous and we got to go right up to a waterfall. The crew, Matt, Gabe, and Keily were very knowledgeable and helpful. I also appreciated the reef safe sunscreen and reusable plates and napkins rather than plastic. It was a perfect end to our Kauai trip.

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Morning Snorkel Tour
Gorgeous views of the Na’ Pali coast along with interesting historic and geographic narrative. Captain Amber and her crew, Jane, Matt and Kez made sure we were well taken care of, having fun and staying safe on the wet and wild ride back to port. Snorkeling at Na’Pali coast was a bonus! We highly recommend this trip on the Lucky Lady

Amber was our captain. She did a wonderful job. Not only navigating the boat but explaining the history of the NaPali coast. The crew was wonderful as well. Very attentive. Dinner was delicious. We were able to see spinner dolphins. Also a whale and her calf.

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Sunset Tour
We mainlanders consider the Hawaiian Island of Kauai to be among the top three most uniquely beautiful and exciting places to visit on this planet! The “Lucky Lady’s” captain and crew were extraordinarily gracious, knowledgeable and skilled (who would have thought getting a shower via a waterfall could be so much fun?!?!)…we would highly recommend this tour to all who want to enjoy a delicious meal and company while viewing the exquisite Na Pali Coast up close and on the Pacific Ocean!

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Sunset Tour
This tour was a great way to visit Na Pali coast.. The crew was very friendly and gave us valuable tips about how to handle sea sickness. Even though we couldn't get to see a nice sunset due to weather conditions, kids were excited to see dolphins playing. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who visits Kauai.

Na Pali Coast Kauai Snorkel and Sail
Captain Mike, Coral, and the crew were wonderful. Everything was well planned and well explained so that you never felt like you were missing out. This is all on top of the obvious… the Na Pali coast is gorgeous. Go on the morning cruise when the water is calmer and the clouds have not formed yet.

Do it!!! Your thinking about it, book it. This was so wonderful, The all female crew was so fun, caring, funny, attentive and very safety conscious. The captain was informative, she talked about the coast, her experiences on the island and gave us plenty of time to snorkel. Tons of fish and a few octopus!! Great views of the coastline and good food, better Mia tais and an unbelievable cookie at the end.

Na Pali Sunset & Sightsee Boat Tour
We enjoyed seeing a whale breech. 13 foot swells was fun when we were in the front of the boat. The food could have been better, not worth the quality of the cruise. James the crew mate was fabulous. He took excellent care and safety of everyone. Other crew mates were good as well.

How to Get There

The Na Pali Coast stretches for 16 miles (26 kilometers) along Kauai’s northwest shore. No roads lead into the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park, and much of the coast is inaccessible due its extremely rugged terrain and sheer cliffs. To reach the trailhead for the Kalalau Trail, follow highway 560 to the end of the road, just past Ha’ena State Park.

When to Get There

Kauai’s weather is stable all year round, which makes it an excellent destination anytime of the year. The best time to hike the Kalalau Trail is during the dry season, which lasts from May through October. Winter is whale watching season, making it a great time for boat tours.

Hiking the Kalalau (Na Pali Coast) Trail

The Na Pali coastline is only accessible by foot via the Kalalau Trail. Backpackers typically take 3 days or more to make this incredibly scenic 22-mile (34-kilometer) round-trip journey. The trail traverses steep cliffs, requires several river crossings, and is very strenuous in spots. Day hikers can venture to Hanakapi’ai Falls, but permits are required to hike past the falls, even if you don’t plan to camp.
