Cenote Ik Kil

Carretera Costera del Golfo,3 Kilometros de la zona arqueologica de Chichen Itza, Tinúm, Yucatan

The Basics

Nearly all excursions to Cenote Ik Kil are combo tours that include a visit to Chichen Itza, as well as possible stops at archaeological sites such as Coba or Ek Balam, or at towns such as Valladolid. (Tours typically last eight to 14 hours given the number of sites visited.) Unlike other cenotes in the Yucatan region, Cenote Ik Kil is open to the sky without a cave cover, giving the natural pool an ethereal feel with sunlight streaming down into the water. Part of Ik Kil Archeological Park, the cenote features vines hanging down from the rock walls. To get in the water, you must climb down 85 feet (26 meters) of steps. The pool is 196 feet (60 meters) wide and about 130 feet (40 meters) deep.

Chichen Itza, Cenote Ik Kil, and Coba Ruins Day Trip All Fees Included
Really well organised trip, our trip was roughly 12 hours long. Breakfast consisted of a banana chocolate chip cookies and a juice so if this isn't enough then maybe bring some snacks. We ate lunch at Cenote Ik Kil which was lovely. Then spent time a coba ruins. Toilets are only at the start/end so be prepared.

Chichen Itza, Cenote Ik Kil and Coba Ruins Premium Service All Fees included
Once in Mexico we wanted to see one of the 7 new wonders of the world. So we had some knowledge of mayan culture and wanted to hear even more of it. Trip was interesting but it was sometimes hard to follow quide's lecture as we are not native english speakers and either was quide. Anyhow after very hot tour in Chichen Itza it was heavenly to jump in cenote Ik Kil's cool water. After Chichen Itza Coba ruins were not so interesting ...

Chichen Itza, Cenote Ik Kil, and Coba Ruins Day Trip All Fees Included
My partner and I enjoyed our trip to Coba, Ik Kil and Chichen Itza! Our guide Alberto was very knowledgeable and friendly. Our group had an issue with tickets when we arrived to Chichen Itza which put a damper on the trip but overall it was not a bad experience, the food was okay and the van was clean.

Visit to Chichen Itza, Ik Kil Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch from Cancun
We loved our excursion to Chichen Itza and Ik Kil. We learned so much about the Mayan people and their historic traditions. The Cenote was beautiful! Lunch was pretty good for a buffet. We also got some time to stop in a small Mexican town where we had a few minutes to shop, get a treat from a street vendor. etc. would highly recommend Ekinox Tours! Jorge and Juan Carlos were great guides!

Chichen Itza Sunrise and Cenote Ik Kil from Cancun
Seeing one of the wonders of the world, before the crush of the crowds AND before the worst of the heat was awesome. Even better, we (my husband, myself and our 4.5 yr old) were also able to have the Cenote and one of the best buffet spreads virtually to ourselves. Completely worth it.

Loved Mayan Ruin, good buffet. A little rushed for Cenotes and Valliodad. Wish we had more than 20 minutes.

Day Tour to Chichen Cenote Ik Kil Cenote Suytun and Valladolid
I chose this tour because it’s one of the few ones that included 2 cenotes. Mostly only had 1 and I was not disappointed. I did the Spanish tour with guides Agustin and Safiro and they were so kind and informative! I also liked the fact that there wasn’t surprise extra fees or taxes everything is included! Prepare for a long day but so worth it.

Visiting Chichen Itza and Cenote Ik Kil

On the Yucatan Peninsula, cenotes and Maya culture go hand in hand. Archaeological sites featuring ancient Maya ruins abound, but the biggest and most popular destination is Chichen Itza, set just three miles (five kilometers) from Cenote Ik Kil. Once one of the largest Maya cities, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its vast Great Ball Court and El Castillo, a step pyramid nearly 100 feet (30 meters) tall.
