The Basics

Split into 10 themed zones, Taronga Zoo is designed to resemble a natural habitat. Ticket options range from general entry tickets to admission with add-ons and upgrades such as supervised hand-feedings, behind-the-scenes experiences, and educational visits with Aboriginal guides. You can even sleep at the zoo inside a classic safari tent.

All tickets include a ride on the Sky Safari cable car, which provides aerial views of the animals and Sydney Harbour. Those looking for convenience can book a tour that includes a Taronga Zoo visit, a Sydney Harbour cruise, and round-trip transportation from their hotel.

The whole trip and zoo was good to walk around all day. But foods basic and expensive. Water fountain is good idea.

Seeing a duck billed platypus it was really cute. I didn't realise they were so small. Also lovely to see the large red kangaroos. So different to the other kangaroos

Sydney Harbour Hop On Hop Off Cruise with Taronga Zoo entry
An excellent way off getting around the harbour. The vessels are very clean and always on time. We enjoyed the zoo very much they have a strong ethos on conservation The exhibits allow you to get up close to the animals and the zoo keeper talks are very informative.

Sydney Harbour Hop On Hop Off Cruise with Taronga Zoo entry
The Sydney Harbour cruise was amazing. We were able to get on and off at our leizure and there were plenty of boat times throughout the day. It was recommended that we go early to have enough time to see the Zoo. It was a very well kept and well designed zoo, too! I especially loved the indigenous animals, as well as the new tiger and elephant exhibits. Would definitely go again!

Sydney Taronga Zoo's Australian Animals Tour
Wonderful tour through the zoo. Learning about the animals of Australia and walking among some of them was a treat. We were able to see up close the Koala bears and feeding the wallaby. Informative and fun.

Sydney Harbour Ferry with Taronga Zoo Entry Ticket
Everything ran so smoothly, the staff were friendly, helpful and funny with a great sense of humour. The ferry ride afforded the opportunity of some great photos of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, so did the skyway up to the entrance of the zoo. The zoo is a must for all visitors to Sydney. The grounds and animals are so clean and well cared for. A great day!

Views from the Zoo

Taronga is an aboriginal phrase that means “beautiful view.” Indeed, the zoo boasts sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Snap a photo of giraffes with Sydney’s skyscrapers in the background, or soak in the scenery while relaxing at one of the picnic areas overlooking the harbor. For another perspective, test your limits on the ropes course (additional cost).
