Expected more from a private tour

We were on a cruise on the Rone river when we took this tour. As promised, the guide picked us up by the pier which was very convenient considering that it was a rainy day. When we arrived to Les Baux-de-Provence, the rain got a bit heavier and our guide suggested to beat the rain by visiting the Carrières de Lumières art center. She quickly bought group tickets for us and we did not have to stay in line. That was a very interesting experience that we did not expect. By the time we left the art center, it cleared up and we had a good but short walk in the village. We did not have the time to see the castle though. We also did not get to see the St Paul's Monastry/clinic simply by being 5-7 minutes late which was totally unexpected. It looked like their business hours changed and our guide did not know this. We arrived at 4:05-4:07 pm. They were still open until 4:30 pm but the doors were closed at 4:00 pm and we were totally ignored. I wish this part of the tour was better planned if we had to come all the way here. I also wish the guide would offer more historical information about the places we visited. It would be very appreciated if the guide was able to walk with us and tell us all about what we saw. This is what we would want.
