This half-day boat cruise takes you to the two best snorkeling sites in Kealakekua Bay: The reef beneath Captain Cook's monument and the underwater lava formations of Red Hill. Check in location for Hoku Nui is at 8:15am at Keauhou Bay's finger pier located at the end of Kaleiopapa Street continuing past the boat ramps. You may park on Kaleiopapa Street. Hoku Nui is a 50 foot Catamaran with a blue sail bag. The boat departs Keauhou Bay at 1pm.

The crew was amazing and they made everybody feel welcomed. The food was good and I felt safe and like I was spending a morning sail with my family. They were always willing to help you and telling us about history. I loved it and we really recommend it. My boyfriend enjoyed his birthday in this trip! We had a great time on this trip. The crew and captain (Alex) were awesome. They were very professional, knowledgeable and fun. The snorkeling was fantastic, we saw lots of great wildlife. The crew watched over everyone while we swam. The food was good too. They kept things flowing seamlessly the whole time.

The crew all worked hard to provide a comfortable and relaxing experience while also being diligent in terms of safety awareness—there were a lot of boats and people at the Captain Cook monument. We were on the morning sail so we went to two different snorkel sites, both of which were so beautiful. We had wonderful weather and calm water so we felt extra spoiled! I want to come back and do this tour again with my husband next time. I had gone on a manta ray tour with another company the night before, and I’d probably do that again too, but with this company.

Crew were very knowledgeable and answered every question about the history and sea life during the trip. Breakfast and lunch were served efficiently and enjoyed. Lots of space for all the passengers since they reduced numbers to uphold COVID standards. Nice snorkeling and lots of dolphins. Would use this company again.

Snorkel the best parts of the big island

Hopped on the beautiful Sea Paradise and we set off for our first snorkel location. The first location was actually my favorite as it was very deep and very vast, much to explore. We got about 45 mins in the water and saw a ton of Black Triggers and Yellow Tangs. My favorite was when they threw a piece of bread in the water as we were getting out and the triggers just swarmed around us. After that it was off to Captain Cook which has some pretty reefs and then a steep drop off. It was cool to see the monument and snorkel it. After that we got to hop back on the boat and got treated to lunch, an amazing story/history about Captain Cook and saw some cool geology on the way back.

This was one of the best excursions I’ve been on! The crew, with Captain Morgan, was phenomenal. Every one did their best to make this a wonderful experience. So helpful with the gear and how to use it. Food was simple but delicious. Just the right amount of people on the boat. Once again, loved the crew! Amazing time and even more amazing crew! Not only did they have awesome customer service, but they were down to earth and even had shared some amazing knowledge of the island itself! Started off our trip with seeing some humpback whales, then hit each snorkeling spot complete with stops along the way to dive into the island history. And on our way back we got a special surprise (whales included).

This was by far the one of the BEST excursions we had on the Big Island. The catamaran was spotless. It was spacious with two bathrooms! The food was hand prepared and the drinks were hand mixed. YUM! But the snorkel spots were the BEST! I saw so many kinds of fish, ells and coral! I wanted to go again, but our schedule didn't allow it. This is a MUST water activity!
