Overview

Embark on an evening adventure and swim near Hawaii’s manta rays. Start the tour with a sunset sail on a comfortable trimaran to ‘Manta Ray Village’. After a safety briefing, put on your snorkel gear and spend an hour in the water using a state-of-the-art, lit up flotation device to stay on the water’s surface and observe the manta rays bellow as they feed on plankton. Finally climb aboard the boat and warm up with hot chocolate and snacks as you return to shore.

Check in 15 minutes prior to departure at the Sea Paradise Van located at Keauhou Bay at the end of 78-7130 Kaleiopapa Street continuing past the boat ramps. You may find parking along Kaleiopapa Street and it will be approximately a 5 minute walk to the pier.

Wow! Seeing the Manta Rays was amazing!! The crew was attentive and we felt completely safe viewing them. It seemed Sea Paradise stayed out the longest of the other tours. We saw 4 mantas at one time. They made over 30 passes right beneath us some within inches of our faces!! Sea Paradise made it a memorable experience! Getting there early is important as parking is limited.

Needs more manta rays.

I blew chunks. Not the operators fault. Mine for eating teriyaki chicken just before getting on the boat. At least now fish all over the mid Pacific have a taste of what we here on land enjoy...sorta reverse surf and turf. Only saw a few manta rays however. Again not operators fault.

Crew of the Sea Paradise were outstanding. Exceptionally nice clean boat, excellent guides, super kind and helpful. If you have motion sickness, be advised, floating on the surface of rolling waves. Saw 4 mantas cruise by, as well as lots of other wee fish.

Manta rays were magical and elegant! The second photo is how close you might get to the manta rays. The guides were professional, and I felt safe during the entire trip. I went in early July at 9 pm and I didn't feel cold in the water. The wet suits help definitely too.

WOW! What a unique and unbelievable experience!!! We went on the second (later) excursion and it was so worth it!! By the time we were getting into the water, most of the other boats were leaving - giving us more exclusive time with the Mantas! Our captain told us to expect 3 Mantas on a good night. We had 9!!!!! All various sizes, gliding everywhere! The Mantas get very, very close and personal, so I would not do this if you’re timid even around gentle giants such as these (no teeth, barbs, stingers), they are very docile & majestic. There really is no time for learning to snorkel, so I recommend learning how before you come. They put you in a wetsuit, so if you have your own- bring it. We were able to get incredible video with a go pro and with our iPhone in a waterproof sleeve. The crew was also really knowledgeable about the Mantas, very nice, and helpful! Come prepared to tip- they take cash and Venmo.

We continued our adventures late the first night and went snorkeling with Manta Reys! Always heard great things about it, but WOW! We saw about 7-8 Manta Reys in the ocean on night 1. What an incredible sight! Not only were they ginormous, but so graceful and beautiful swimming around us. Inches from our face! It was a quick ride to the spot, enjoyed a good amount of time under water too. I have no photos, but I will never forget this experience. Thank you @seaparadisehawaii & @viatortravel ☺️

Sea paradise was great, the crew was really helpful throughout the night, I was a little nervous to go out into the deep sea in the middle of the night,, but the crew put me at ease with their knowledge and preparedness. They even made a hot beverage after the adventure for all the travelers.. An unforgettable experience, got to see over 4 manta rays and other fish.

Best Adventure Ever with Sea Paradise

I would highly recommend Sea Paradise for night time snorkeling with manta rays. The boat was nice and clean and the crew was friendly, informative, and funny. They provided everything you needed to be comfortable, including a wetsuit. It was a short ride to the swimming site and after a little instruction we were in the water floating next to a light board. Within seconds there was 4-5 rays swimming all around us and doing barrel rolls. It was so amazing to see them swimming below us. My 8 year old keep saying “oh my gosh this is so cool”. And it really was! If your on the Big Island you MUST look up Sea Paradise with Captain Morgan and night swim with the manta rays. Bucket list item for sure and I will be back again!

The reviews saying you get to see mantas inches away aren’t kidding!! It was an incredible experience. At first we didn’t see too many mantas, and then we connected our lights with another tour and the mantas came rolling in- literally. They would do barrel rolls right in front of you. You aren’t supposed to touch the mantas, they get so close though!! The crew did a good job of working with the other groups to optimize the experience. Quick breakdown- you sail out and watch the sunset, and then learn the ins and outs of why the mantas are in the area and the rules for floating with them. It’s an verbal easy process and the entire ship’s crew was extremely helpful and great to be around. This tour will come highly recommend to all visiting the area- the takeaways are unmatched and one of a kind!

This was an awesome once in a lifetime experience!! The rays swoop in within inches of you and it’s so unbelievable! The tour operators were great - kind, helpful and informative. I was a little worried when they started off handing out ginger chews - not a good sign for sea sickness. Water is a bit choppy when you’re floating in the water. Our family was fine but there were a couple in our trip that were sick. The crew handled it well - very unobtrusive to the rest of the group and didn’t impact our experience at all. Our family all agreed that we were ready to be done about 15 minutes earlier than the end time - but then we would have missed a final loop by 2 rays! Worth it in the end!! Also recommend taking a jacket because it’s chilly after you get out of the water.
