This activity will end right where it started.
Choose from several departure times for convenient pickup from your Cancun or Playa del Carmen hotel. In a comfortable tour vehicle, travel to Rancho Bonanza, where you're introduced to your horse. Riders are matched with horses based on experience level; riders of all levels can be accommodated. Horses at Rancho Bonanza have been rescued, rehabilitated, and retrained. 

Spend the next portion of the tour exploring the jungle, observing and learning about the local flora and fauna as you travel. You also learn about the local practice of making bubblegum from materials found in the peninsula's forest. Once you reach a natural cenote, or limestone sinkhole, dismount for a swim in the cool water. Towels are provided for you, but please bring your swimsuit if you plan on swimming. 

Enjoy drinks and snacks before returning to Rancho Bonanza. Then catch your ride back to Cancun or Playa del Carmen for drop-off.

  • Maximum weight is 220 lbs (100 kg)
  • It is recommended that you bring biodegradable sunscreen and biodegradable insect repellent, a camera, sunglasses, long pants for riding, and a swimsuit

I would like for the manager to contact me, ASAP. We arrived to horse back ride in rainy weather. We were told by the staff that it was unsafe to ride due to the rain and lightening. We asked for raincoats and they said they had none available.

Besides the ride they showed and talked of local foliage ,Mayan legend, and we sampled fresh honey. Saw Coati, farm animals, and a family of Monkeys just passing thru! Loved that! A lovely low key adventure. Super nice people.

Can’t be 1 pound over the weight limit

I was told that I could not ride the horse because I was less than ONE pound over their weight limit. I’m not skinny but I’m not huge either. I’m a tall girl, so I weigh more. The instructor made sure to loudly announce that I was over the weight limit but said my friend can ride without me. He humiliated me in front of the rest of the group and kept trying to push my friend to go on the ride without me and told me to just wait in the lobby. She obviously refused. While this was upsetting, I was fine to abide by their rule even though I felt it was ridiculous. I have long locs so my hair is pretty heavy. They refused to refund my money despite the fact that I couldn’t even go on the excursion per their rule. Do not recommend at all.

I had so much fun going horseback riding for the first time. They made sure I was comfortable on my horse before going into the jungle. When my horse became unfocused, they helped me get him back on track. The other animals on the ranch were so cute. Everyone was so nice! Alejandra was great! They picked me up & dropped me back off to my hotel in a private van, which was nice because I thought it was going to be shared transportation. Definitely recommend this adventure. Don’t forget to tip them!

Such a great and relaxing excursion! I gifted my husband a trip to Cancun for his birthday and threw in a couple excursions to polish the trip off! We did the horseback riding and cenote swim on our last day and it was perfect. Both being beginner horseback riders, the host made sure to explain everything thoroughly and clear and even gave us the back story of the beautiful horses. (My horses name was Cinnamon, my husband's, Tomatoe). The ride was just enough, we took a break, had a snack while being educated about the Mayan culture, finishing our ride back to base. Afterwards, we took a dip in the beautiful cenote (bring water shoes). Our guide/s were great, entertaining and personable. (I will say, make sure you confirm your transport back to your living quarters as soon as possible). Overall a lovely and perfect last day experience!
