Unbalanced - too much focus on wars

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and extraneous subjects not relevant to Charleston, but we had hoped for a more balanced tour including more about the slave experience in Charleston and on the plantations and more focus on the beautiful homes, architecture, gardens, and how life has changed in the area. Our stop at The Battery was all about the wars with nothing on the beautiful homes. We actually stopped as soon as we went up the stairs and didn't even walk along to see the homes. Our guide was not good about ensuring everyone was getting across several busy streets and was walking quickly leaving some up to a half block behind. We went into two churches for about 2 minutes each with little explanations about the interiors. The length of the tour is good and the price is reasonable. Just wasn't what we expected. Felt like we were in history class with battles, generals, dates, etc. Spoke to a group about their carriage tour and it sounded more like what we expected with this tour.
