The beauty of the plantation. Enjoyable place to visit and interesting history. The peacock Cafe had a nice selection of sandwiches and salads for lunch

Great and Brief

It was a wonderful tour with good service and convenient if you don’t have a car or direct transportation. The guide was polite and informative. My only recommendation would be to extend the tour time. We felt rushed and did not have time to explore on our own or take additional tours. An extra hour is needed.

Great introduction to Plantation Era

Great introduction into the Plantation era. Beautiful landscaped gardens. History narrative from guides did not properly address the slavery issues, so the "Slaves to Freedom" needs to be added. Overall, far too little time spent here. We chose the trip because there was transport included from Charleston.

We thought the whole tour was wonderful, Lisa, our driver, gave us good information during the ride over, the plantation was beautiful, the tour guide inside the home was so informative on everything regarding the Drayton family, the articles in the home, the whole family. What beautiful grounds.

Like Stepping Back In Time

Our shuttle driver was a delight and very informative. The only negative comments I have iareregarding the tram seating and operator. The tram seats should all be facing forward. Every time the driver said look to YOUR left/right, he should have indicated his left/right. Also, he should have had a better microphone as a lot of his speaking was done too softly. Also, I realize everything is on a schedule, but I felt that the tram operator drove a bit too fast for us to take photos of the wild & plant life.

Disappointed

Got bumped because I was a solo traveler. It was the last day of my trip so rebooking wasn’t an option. Would have liked a refund but was given” tour credit” instead. How useful on my last day of vacation

Walking through the garden and the tram ride was very enjoyable. Disappointed that our tour didn’t include going inside the slave cabins. Wish I had known that when booking.

Great wildlife with history important to learn

Great wildlife Good to learn and see history Book story has books to honor the men, women, children who worked so hard and were mis-treated as slaves… their voice and suffering needs to be heard and recognized as we still effort to eradicate non equal treatment but live with genuine diversity and inclusion

Memorable? Watching one of the staff chase the peacock back into the fenced in grounds. Otherwise, so-so experience. Have enjoyed other experiences in Charleston much more. Staff enthusiasm not quite at the "enthusiastic" level....felt more like part of the herd of cows they had to push through.

Overall it was a great tour but felt rushed. We left late because one couple were behind schedule. There wasn't an opportunity to walk around because of the timed schedule. Perhaps you could do the tram and then go right to the house and leave the rest of time free. It would have helped to have a boxed lunch set up. We lost a lot time just standing in line to get a sandwich.

If you can only go on 1 tour while in Charleston this should be it! Lots of history, beautiful grounds and animals!

Magnolia Plantation Experience
Emilia_S
, Mar. 2022
The swamp and gardens tours were the best. The home tour provided the Barr minimum info and didn't even acknowledge the family's ownership of slaves other than to say that the owner taught them to read in a small school on site. Home tour was disappointing.

There wasn’t much time to explore the gardens. Also would have liked to bring lunch and water as options were limited and lines were long at the concession.
