A:After disembarking find the exit of the shopping complex and parking lot of the Cruise Terminal. We are located half block outside of the first security gate of the Cruise Terminal. On the left side walk, passed the yellow taxis. Please look for MAYAN TRIPS signs and we will have a slate with your name.

Small group size with personal attention

We were met personally by the driver Adrian and lead to the waiting van. The meeting place was outside the normal taxi stand, but was only a couple of blocks away. Genesis our guide was great and gave an enthusiastic talk on the drive to the ruins from the perspective of a local. We received lots of information on the ruins as well as local plant and animal life. Best part was being part of a small group. We had cold water and can was air conditioned nicely. We were able to stop on the way back and Genesis bought everyone local honey pineapple, which was fabulous! It was hot (in June) and although paths to ruins were well maintained, would not be good for wheelchairs or those with health issues. Otherwise, was fabulous being able to get up close and actually climb on part of the ruin. Great tour!

We bought this trip as a shore excursion during our cruise mid June 2022. Hitting ruins was high on our list, and we were torn between Chacchoben from Costa Maya and Tulum from Cozumel. After reading the fine print and seeing that it takes twice as long to get to Tulum, we opted for this tour and are so glad we did! We appreciated that it was a small group--there was my family of five and two other adults we didn't know before the trip and having so few people was wonderful! We saw the cruise excursion on the trip--there were nearly 75 people in the group, and it was so large several people near the back couldn't hear the guide--and they paid nearly 33% more than what we did. The van we rode in was comfortable and air conditioned, the guide was local, knowledgeable, and friendly. We saw more wildlife with our small group--several howler monkeys (even a few babies!), we tasted local honey from inside the park, and the guide answered all our questions. We couldn't have been happier with this tour.

This was a great tour, our guides were Erick and Genesis and they couldn’t have been better. When we arrived they greeted us with water and we’re very friendly. The guides gave us a brief explanation of the state that we were in and then on the way to the ruins they gave us a great explanation of how life was like for the Mayans. When we arrived at the ruins they offered us bug spray and walked us through the ruins and offered to take pictures. This was a great experience and a terrific tour. Please don’t book shore excursions with your cruise line please support these small businesses and book with them .

Our guides, Genesis and Exodus (Jose) were the best. During the ride to Chacchoben, Genesis explained the history of the Mayan people with illustrations and pictures. He taught us a few words in Mayan language and explained their cultural and traditions. Once we got to Chaccoben, Genesis lead us as he continued to teach us about some of the different trees of the jungle. At each site, he explained the history and then gave us time to explore and take pictures. Jose followed the tour making sure no one in our group wandered off or was left behind. Jose also had a backpack with bottles of water for us along the tour. I read the past reviews and made sure I had insect spray and walking shoes. Genesis had insect spray on hand. For the most part, the path is clear and level. To explore the sites, one would need to be able to climb stairs. I didn’t have my watch on to measure the distance but out and back was roughly 1.5 to 2 miles. This company limits the size of the group to be able to offer the best tour. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we stayed on schedule. We were back at port with enough time to shop a little and be back onboard in time for departure.

Our tour guide Ezekiel was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. For the first hour of the tour he gave us some interesting background on the Mayan’s and give us some practice with the Mayan language and numbers! That was very fun. During the tour he was patient with us as we struggled with the heat lol! But he allowed us time to take photos and get to the next portion of the tour. Not only was he knowledgeable but also very funny and engaging! After the tour we had a one hour drive with Gimmy (I’m sorry if misspelled). He took us for fresh pineapples near by and they were so yummy. Really enjoyed experiencing the life of the residents of Chacchoben and this tour provided this. Perfect tour for the whole family. While the walking can be a lot during high heat the overall walking is only 1.5 hours and the meeting place is very easy to get to. I also appreciated the heads up about navigating through the market, I missed that memo from them before hand and I definitely wished I would of read that center.

Our guides really took care of us. Even rainy it was incredible. Don’t forget bug spray ! We didn’t book a beach experience too but they took us right to one and even gave us a ride back to the port. It was customized to make our experience even more than we expected.

This excursion was awesome. It was a smaller group which was WAY better because i saw big buses with 50+ people. Ours was so much more personal and fun. The guide was very knowledgable and really tried to give us a fun experience which he definitely succeeded at. I would absolutely recommend this excursion!

We had such a wonderful time during our Chaccoben Tour, I couldn't have asked for more. I did not regret, not even a bit, that I chose to book here in Viator over Royal Carribean's over-inflated excursion. Our tour guide is very good, very nice and very knowledgeable of everything. He also speaks very good English! We are really taking our time in each stop and really enjoying the entire trip. We also appreciated the free pineapple, mango and mamey stop! Great excursion! The small group (8) was nice. The guides, Genesis and Exodus shared their wealth of knowledgable as they guided us through the ruins. On the way back to the ship, we stopped at a fruit stand for locally grown pineapple! Yum! Would definitely recommend.

The trip was great. Our guide, Genesis, was funny, engaging, and very informative. We had a small-ish group with a total of 3 couples. The ruins were interesting all by themselves, but the commentary and history of Genesis really added a lot to the experience. The ride over to the ruins went quickly, partly because our driver Exxodus was speedy (in a good - not dangerous way) and partly because our guide provided a lot of history on the tour. On the way back we stopped for some honey pineapple - which was delicious.

We had a fantastic time on this tour! Genesis did a great job of utilizing our drive to the site to explain Mayan culture from a historic and modern perspective. Being a part of a smaller tour was a huge bonus! We got to spend time around the ruins in a more secluded way. We also saw a bunch of monkeys jumping right over our heads from one tree to the next! Some even had babies on their backs. Our guides even stopped to provide us with a taste of Honey Pineapple (even tried Mayan stylewith chili seasoning). All around it was a great experience!

Genesis was a welcoming host, passionate about the area visited. V. Informative and engaging. He was v. Knowledgeable about all aspects of the site visited. Ezekiel, our guide and Eric, our driver were great! We learned so much about the Mayan calendar, the Chacchoben ruins and the people who lived there. Ezekiel was an outstanding guide and shared many facts about the vegetation. He spent time to answer all of our questions as we walked all over the ruins. Very interesting and would highly recommend Ezekiel and CM Tours.
