Rocky was our guide and he was amazing. He kept us laughing the entire day. My issues with the excursion were moreso the excursion itself and not the guide. So overall, we had a great day but there are a few things you should know. 1. The buggies are manual meaning you must know how to drive a stick shift. We did not realize that but luckily we had at least 2 ppl in our group that were familiar with driving manual. Had it not been for my husband and dad, we would have been SOL. I feel that's a pretty important detail that should be included as a warning before booking. 2. The entrance cost for many of things we wanted to do were not included in the cost. I understand that it is clearly stated however, it may be nice to include the cost of those things into the advertised cost. It felt like we were being nickel and dimed. Want to see the ruins? That's $10pp. Want to see the lighthouse? That's $15pp. Want to see the cenote? That's $12pp. Oh and you must have cash for all these entrance fees bc they don't take credit card. 3. The meal. It was pretty underwhelming. They take you to a "beach club" and you're given the option of tacos, quesadillas, or fajitas. The food itself was fine but I think I would've appreciated a more local and authentic meal. The food was on par with the food served in the buffets on the cruise. I'm pretty sure there is prob better tasting food on the island that's much more authentic than what we had. 4. The buggies themselves need a makeover. I was honestly concerned for our safety due to the poor state of the buggies. I understand that they are used so frequently in all sorts of terrains so wear and tear occurs faster however, during our excursion one of our buggies died on us. I was also driving behind my parents, who were in a separate buggy, and we witnessed the air filter on their buggy literally fell off of the buggy and onto the ground. These things were falling apart in front of our eyes. I think it may be time for these buggies to be retired and upgraded. Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed. Rocky, our guide, was the saving grace. He truly was a delight and made an underwhelming excursion somewhat enjoyable.
