Private Jeep Excursion in Cozumel with Lunch and Snorkeling

Amazing experience! Tour guide was great, and we got to pick what we saw on the island. Be sure that you receive directions beforehand to meet your guide. They had said they sent them to me, but I couldn’t find them. Either way, they helped me find the meeting place the day of. Lunch was good tourist food, but not the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had. The tequila tour on the other hand was the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend just for that! It was a very personalized experience.

We had a great time on our jeep tour with Katy. We got off the cruise ship. We weren't certain where to go. Some kind local workers helped us find our guide Katy near the local 7-eleven where she was waiting for us. It would have been nice to have figured this out before we left on the cruise and lost service (partly our fault). Katy essentially handed us the keys to the jeep and asked what we wanted to do. Katy was fun to talk to. She sat in the back while we sat up front. It was a really great way to experience the island. Katy taught us many things about the island and the area and life on Cozumel. We decided on a local chocolate making tour. We learned a lot of Mayan history and had a fresh homemade chocolate mole sauce and corn tortilla, and fresh chocolate made by our tour guide. Overall, I think there are better chocolate tours in other areas...but we had a good time. We spent time on the opposite side of the island at the beach, drove through some community 4x4 roads, saw lots of iguanas, stopped by a small church and learned about local religious history, and went snorkeling at the Tortugas Bar. Tortugas gives you snorkeling equipment and lunch. Lunch was OK, the snorkeling was great. Lots of fish to see. Water very clear. Before we knew it, we had to go back to the boat!

Our guide was amazing, but unfortunately just the experience was not so great. The venue for lunch was over crowded and food was dry. We never even went snorkeling nor to the beach.

Carlos was an amazing guide! We learned so many facts about Cozumel. I would recommend this trip for anyone.

Very nice day! Our guide Youssef was very helpful and we got to see beautiful sceneries of the island. The jeep was a bit loud (we could hardly hear each other’s during when driving) but the whole experience is worth it! The kids loves it!

Ignacio, aka Nacho, was the true reason this tour was spectacular. When I asked my son what his favorite part about the tour was, he replied, "Nacho." Very professional, polite and a wealth of knowledge for the area. I traveled with 2 young teenagers I could not have felt more safe with Nacho. Thank you so much for a great tour!!

We didn’t realize when booking our tour that the time we selected for pick up wasn’t our local time in Florida so we had to wait an extra hour for our tour to start. I took that as partially my mistake for not realizing the time zone difference and waited patiently. Also it was never made clear where our meeting point was. We had to ask around and thankfully some other tour guide told us where to meet. After not having access to my email while on my cruise I returned home and saw an email explaining the meeting point the day before my booked excursion. Which would have been helpful to receive before I left on my cruise and not had access to internet. Our tour was to start at 1pm and our tour guide was almost 20 minutes late to pick us up. When he arrived he didn’t ask our names, check out tickets or anything. He got out and assumed we were his guests, pointed to my boyfriend and said “you are driving my friend”. Well during our hour and 20 min. wait we had been drinking at a local bar seeing how we were on vacation and knew we didn’t have to drive since I booked a private jeep tour with a guide. When he told our tour guide he’d been drinking and didn’t think he should drive our tour guide said “oh it’s ok it’s Mexico”. We were taken instantly to lunch and told we could snorkel there. It was extremely over crowded and we didn’t want to snorkel first thing and be wet the rest of the tour so we passed on the snorkeling and asked to head to other stops instead. Lunch took a pretty decent amount of time considering it was a completely packed restaurant and we just wanted to explore the island not be stuck in one spot and I’m my mind I had already lost 1 hour and 20 mins of my tour with the time change and him being late. After lunch and a few more beers my boyfriend told the tour guide he himself needed to drive us because he wasn’t comfortable driving after drinking. The rest of the tour was decent we only had time for 2 other stops after lunch and headed back to the boat. I’m disappointed after reading some of the other reviews and hearing how great it was for them. Maybe it depends on your guide. But to me the price I paid wasn’t worth it. Next time I’ll book with our cruise line itself.

We thoroughly enjoyed our jeep tour with Miguel. He is friendly, engaging, and a Cozumel native, so he knows all the good spots. Especially memorable was a stop at the Miami bar. Best margarita we've ever had, and we've had many, and fantastic views right on the beach. You get to decide what you'd like to do and go or stay on your schedule. We look forward to going out with Miguel again. And be sure to meet his charming family if they are working at the shop.
