Didn't get full experience
Kristie_P
, May 2022
I rated low, only because we didn't get to do hike. Guide likely made the right call though, just didn't get the full experience.
icon Response from Host , May 2022
Aloha Kristie, The goal is always the falls, but sometimes the weather/rain dictates and complicates. Safety is no accident at Kayak Kaua'i and when in doubt we don't proceed when there is a threat of rising water in the narrow North Fork of the Wailua River, creating dangerous flood like conditions. In these instances we try to turn a curve into a plus by just enjoying the river. Thanks for sharing and hope to see you back on a sunnier/drier day. A hui hou, Micco

Beauty and adventure!

Excellent guide, very talkative and informative. It had rained a lot the day before, so we cautiously made our way out to the river crossing. The river was high but we made it across, no problem. The waterfall was well worth it!
icon Response from Host , Apr. 2022
Aloha Alicia, Rain can make it a bit more muddy and make it more challenging to ford the stream....but does prime the waterfall. Glad you enjoyed and for sharing. A hui hou, Micco

It was so much fun. I highly recommend it for a complete family bonding. Mike, our guide, was fun and very knowledgeable.

Aloha Wilton, We do market our falls tour as "family friendly" or at least for the active one. Great to hear that you enjoyed the tour and Mike; we are all very lucky to have him share his particular brand of aloha and knowledge of the resource. Enjoy your 'ohana and come back and enjoy our other tours of course, with your family. A hui hou, Micco

Hadnt been in a kayak for years, but Justice was a great instructor & had my wife & I kayaking like pros in no time. He was super knowledgeable of all of the plant life & island history. The swim in the pool under the waterfall was a definite bucket list! All around amazing time‼️

Kaui Kayak adventure
Walt_V
, Mar. 2022
Our guide was Isa a wildlife biologist and botanist. She was very knowledgeable and showed us many native and invasive plants. Very friendly and even was patient and waited for us old folks who could not keep pace with younger hikers. The only hitch was the departure time was changed from 12:15 to 11:30 however Viator.com did NOT notify us!! We were lucky we planned to arrive early!!!! Instead we barley made it on time!!
icon Response from Host , Mar. 2022
Aloha Walt, Sorry about the Viator glitch and that fortunately we were able to take a curve and make it a plus and you were able to get to go with Lizzy, your guide. Lizzy brings to all her tours a sense of living classroom mixed with safety and fun. Glad you enjoyed and that we were able to accommodate. A hui hou, Micco

Down to earth Kawaii experience!
Sharon_C
, Mar. 2022
Loved paddling up the big Waimea river and stopping to hear about ancient Hawaiian culture. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful, through lush jungle and along a river, crossing some too before coming to the waterfall and time to take a plunge in the cool water before heading back. Our guide Justice was attentive and enthusiastic. He shared information about the flora and fauna on the hike.
icon Response from Host , Mar. 2022
Aloha Sharon, Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed Justice as he shared his aloha for the Wailua River complex. All our guides try to share the native Hawaiian culture and other ethnic groups that lurk behind the foliage that you see. Thanks for sharing and will let Justice know that you enjoyed and learned from his enthusiasm. A hui hou Micco

Amazing Adventure

What an awesome experience. Our guide Logan was full of historical knowledge of the island and the original peoples. The hike is lush and provides incredible views the whole time. The best part of the experience was jumping into the water and feeling the power of the waterfall. If you love to explore and learn about the place you are traveling, I would highly recommend.
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
Aloha Courtney, Thanks for the 5 star review. Appreciated. Logan continues to get rave reviews by giving 100% and sharing his love and passion for the river. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for taking the time to share. Keep exploring and until our trails cross again. A hui hou, Micco

Both the kayak and hike were amazing! The guide Lizzy was very informative and made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves. I would highly recommend this tour! Make sure to wear the appropriate shoes as recommended in the booking, the hike can be muddy and slippery.
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
Aloha Jeff, Thanks for you kind review and recommendations of wearing appropriate shoes (e.g. aqua shoes or light weight tennis shoes work). We are very fortunate to have Lizzy working with us and sharing her love and deep knowledge of the natural history of the Wailua complex. Stay well and keep paddling and hiking. A hui hou, Micco
