Meet your guide in La Fortuna at 7:30 am and make your way in air-conditioned comfort to Caño Negro, where you'll learn about local plantations and regional crops like yucca, papaya and pineapple. Enjoy a welcome drink and snack at the El Caiman restaurant before journeying by boat into the Rio Frio. Spend 2.5 hours searching for egrets, monkeys, herons, iguanas and indigenous flora. After an exciting excursion into nature, head back to the El Caiman Restaurant and enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch before heading back to La Fortuna.

Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge
Our tour starts in La Fortuna at 7:30 am. On the way to Caño Negro you will have the opportunity to learn about numerous agricultural plantations of Costa Rica such as yucca, papaya, pineapple, sugar cane and oranges. Then we will arrive at the "El Caiman" restaurant, where we will enjoy a welcome drink and snack, before the boat tour on the "Rio Frio" river. Here we will have 2.5 hours to see egrets, herons, monkeys, caimans, iguanas, bats and a variety of flora. An excellent Costa Rican typical meal will be waiting for us, back at El Caiman Restaurant and while we have lunch, we can talk about the unforgettable experiences on the river.

We had an excellent time on this tour. Joe was an exceptional tour guide. He was informative about the Costa Rican crops & culture during the entire ride to Cano Negro, And was able to find an abundance of wildlife during the tour. Our favorite experience was visiting the howler monkeys! He knew exactly which tree they lived in and We got spectacular pictures and up close spectacular sightings! We also saw numerous wetland birds, iguanas, turtles, bats and much much more! The fresh fruit they serve before the tour was plentiful and delicious and the authentic Costa Rican food was also fresh and very tasty! They also gave a sugarcane presentation and when you got to taste pure sugarcane, Costa Rican moonshine and coffee. I highly recommend the tour it was very relaxing and pleasurable

We had a great time! Fauricio and Daniel took the time to make sure everyone got to see the animals along the river. They even helped us get photos of well-hidden animals! On both the bus ride and the boat trip, Fauricio was both entertaining and informative. At the end of the tour, we even got to learn a bit about making sugar from the sugar cane, roasting (and using) cocoa beans, and how to make Costa Rican coffee! Well worth the time and the money--great price for all we got!

Elena (our tour guide) and Cesar (our boat driver) were excellent. They picked us up exactly on time from our airbnb reservation and dropped us back. We saw lots of indigenous wildlife and were able to take pictures. Elena offered to send us pictures that she took with her viewfinder so we would have better pictures. I would highly recommend this tour and tour company.

We had our trip without Elena. She was full on knowledge, had a nice personality and pointed out many different types of monkeys, birds, etc on the boat tour. The Lunch was delicious. Well worth the money!!
