4-in-1 Arenal Volcano Tour: Hanging Bridges, La Fortuna Waterfall, Volcano Hike, and Tabacon Hot Springs

Awesome tour! Had an amazing tour guide and the sites were incredible. The day is super long so be prepared and prepared for rain! The hikes can be physically demanding as well but would do it all over again!

This tour was nothing short of amazing!!! I booked this tour for me and my husband as a part of his birthday trip to Costa Rica. Our Driver Edgardo and our tour guide Francisco were amazing!!! We started the morning on time with pick up at our hotel in La Fortuna. Our group started with 10 people but due to people booking different tour options we mostly had 6 people in our tour group which was perfect. The transportation van was very clean and they followed mask protocols appropriately while inside of the vehicle. We arrived at Arenal Volcano to start our hike, which was amazing. Francisco was very passionate and knowledgeable about the events of The Arenal Volcano along with the wildlife in the area. He was able to identify different species of birds that we encountered as well as snakes, sloth’s and howler monkeys that we heard during the hike. We hiked around Arenal for about 2 hours. The hike is not unmanageable but it is slightly demanding in some areas due to steep inclines or stairs. We were offered walking sticks made from bamboo that helped tremendously. After our hike we enjoyed a refreshing snack of fresh watermelon and pineapple which were tasty. There was bottled water provided for us through the entire trip. Once arriving at the Fortuna waterfall, check in was easy, the trek down the 500 stairs is a bit tiring on the knees but the waterfall was well worth the walk!! It was simply beautiful! Many people swam but beware the rocks in the water are slippery. Water shoes would help. The walk up the stairs is challenging but there are many places to take breaks. After the waterfall we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the rainforest explorers ranch. Lunch was filling and delicious. We were served beverages of water, a mixed fruit juice with pineapple star fruit and passion fruit, fresh coffee that was amazing! And we had cheesecake for dessert and sampled chocolate made by Edgardo and his wife. We then took a ride to the Hanging bridges. The walk through the park is another workout but we had great views on the bridges. Francisco pointed out more wildlife and doubled as an amazing photographer during the entire trip. My Husband and I ended our evening at the Ecotermales hot springs, enjoying a buffet dinner and drinks. The pools there range in temperature but all felt great! It was an amazing was to end the day. Edgardo and is wife picked up at the end of our evening and dropped us back to our hotel. Do not let the price of this tour discourage you, it is worth every penny and you can not find better guides that are as passionate as their work than Francisco was!

This was a all day tour and loved every minute of it. Hanging bridges were nice and so was the hike to get to them. Learned and saw a lot along the way. Waterfall was breath taking and don’t worry about the steps to get to them. Just take a break as needed. Volcano hike was nice it was a clear day and you could really see the volcano that day. Learned a lot about volcano history. Hot springs was very relaxing and a great way to end a great day

We loved, loved, LOVED this tour! Our guide, Hansel (sp?), was so attentive and full of fascinating information. He would make sure to stop every time he saw something interesting while on the rainforest hikes and set up his scope to show us what he was seeing. Lots of very cool birds to be seen. We had hoped to see a sloth and monkeys and by the end of the day, we did! We even had the chance to pet (touch) a sloth just hanging around the lunch area. The waterfall was quite brisk but gorgeous. The lunch was delicious. The Tabacon Hot Springs was the perfect way to end the day. Such an incredible resort! We would highly recommend spending a full day doing this tour!

Don’t waste your time looking for a value trip or another company. Rainforest Expedititons was timely and awesome. Our tour guide Francisco really took care of my “older” mother who needed assistance walking and slowed down our trip. We went to the waterfall- wear water shoes that have straps. Leave flip flops at home. We saw a tourists lose his shoe to the fast moving waters. Can’t compete with Mother Nature. All of our meals were incredible and included and we loved being chauffeured around to each activity. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, for 6 of us it put a dent in the wallet, but so worth it. We loved Francisco and the driver and showed our appreciation through a generous tip to both.

RainForest explorers went above and beyond for our 4-in-one tour! We went in the rain forest where Jason, our guide, did such an awesome job stopping and spotting animals. Our driver, Edgar (The BEST), was our feet and was always very kind transporting us to the next location. La Fortuna waterfall was amazing, and we had the chance to swim. Moving on to our lunch in la finca. It was amazing! Food was delicious! Best meal we had the entire time in Costa Rica! We even had the opportunity to see some animals who were nearby the finca. I highly recommend RainForest Explorers to anyone thinking of doing tours. Our guide and driver were both very knowledgable and awesome. They were both very hardworking men! They are amazing! I am recommending them to my family and friends.
