Nice Trip and moderate hike
Lawrence_L
, Dec. 2020
This was a great excursion. The Great Ocean Road and Apostles were beautiful. The Grampian hike is a fairly difficult climb. The hike to the waterfall was less taxing. We chose the single room instead of the group stay at the Hostel. The guide was very nice.

We had the best time ever ! When booking we were a bit anxious about the shared accommodation but this was totally fine, very clean and the group that we were with was amazing. Our guide Cameron was told us a lot about the area and some history which was fun, and he cooked delicious meals. There were lots of snacks on board. We could not have asked for a better trip. The only let down was the second night, although its a great place to stay we all were very cold and i think this would have worked better in Summer than in winter time. It was old and a bit grotty so perhaps the second night could have been better in an accommodation like our first night. But apart from that we would definitely recommend this tour !!!!!

In a word, AMAZING! By far the best experience we had whilst in Australia. Pete was our driver, he was so informative and made the whole experience a complete adventure. I really cannot express how good this was. Very tiring due to the long days but an absolute jem of a trip and well worth the fatigue that followed. I could have slept for a week afterwards! Just fabulous! Met some great people too which was a bonus!

Just awesome! Ngaire was an incredible guide and a really attentive and accommodating considering the rather large group on who happened to be on our bus. She's such a sweetheart and a great storyteller. You could tell she was passionate about the places that we went to and I found her insight on ecotourism in Australia very interesting. She also had great music taste and took all of our suggestions for music, which is a huge plus when you're on a bus for THREE DAYS! Both Ngaire and Matt the guide for the other bus were very knowledgeable and just cool people to hang out with and have a beer with in the evenings.

Wonderful trip. I arranged to meet the tour in Anglesea and the tour bus arrived at the location agreed upon. Our tour guide was Cameron. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with plenty of history about the Great Ocean Road. We all enjoyed the times we were able to stop to view the koalas in the trees along the side of the road. There are so many wonderful beaches, coves, park areas along the route which follows the coastline of Australia. The hostel in Port Colbourne lodge was very well run and looked after. We had a wonderful breakfast the next day before heading off to continue the trip. Thru the second day we headed up into the Grampian Mountain area and continued to enjoy the scenery, with plenty of time to walk thru the rocky terrain to view some stunning scenery. We stayed that night in a private camp where our tour guide cooked dinner with the assistance from our group. Next day we were up early to continue the tour. After lunch a few of us were taken to a bus stop in order to catch the bus to Adelaide. Our tour guide was terrific and we all had a wonderful experience full of beautiful scenery, swimming in the coves. So great to be able to see the koalas and kangaroos in their natural surroundings. Meals and accommodation were great. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who loves the outdoors, walking, swimming, hostels and the chance to meet wonderful people.

Iris D

This tour was organized by a local tour company and our fantastic tour guide was Matt. I think for this price the tour was great and left me and my 23 companions with unforgettable memories. The shared accomodations were good first day in a hostel at the Great Ocean Road, 12 of us shared a room second night in the Grampians where 5 of us shared one nicely climatized room, and some of us even booked a night in the tent 20 cheaper, this option is not available via Viator. Just be prepared for some longer waiting times in front of the showers in the hostels but all accomodations are clean and comfortable don't forget your ear plugs!. The food was also good- with exception of the junk food we got at our first stop at the Cape Otway Lighthouse- sausage solala, bland potatoe salads you can get better stuff in the supermarket..., and bread. They should make sure that there is something better left for us after all the one-day tours were there. The other lunches were much better you eat your own sandwiches and lots of veggies if you like, and the dinners were fantastic. First night pizza with the sunset at the beach, second night BBQ with tasty kangaroo meat in the Grampians. Our tour guide Matt was very knowledgeable and be prepared for his jokes! No one will be spared! He gave us enough time at all stops unfortunately the couple who booked the helicopter flight around the 12 Apostels could not not take their flight since we were delayed due some bush fire detours and the long lines t the check-in- but they got refunded. I took more than 150 pictures...My personal highlight was our Mexican-standoff with the dog when we left the accomodation on the last day. Dog vs. Matt's bus: you will laugh a lot and not forget this :- Altogether a great and unforgettable trip- thanks Matt!!!
