Set out on the nature trail of Three Coconuts Pass, a 4-mile route that begins at the Belvedere Lookout, which you’re driven to after hotel pickup in Moorea by your guide. Enjoy sweeping views over the Opunohu Valley and its namesake bay below.

Then set out on foot along a forested path of lush ferns and Tahitian chestnut trees. Learn to identify a range of bird calls and discover plants harvested for traditional cooking, fishing and Polynesian tapa cloth.

It’s a steady climb to Three Coconuts Pass and the foot of Mt Mou’a Roa, but you’re rewarded with views of Moorea’s volcanic caldera and the distant peaks of Mt Tohiea, Mt Rotui and Mt Mou’a Puta, whose rugged peaks rise dramatically from Cook's Bay. Snap photos of famed hole that pierces Mou’a Puta, reputed to be the result of a spear thrown by a powerful deity.

Admire these sights before you return along the same route, stopping for a refreshing dip at a waterfall. After about three hours of walking at a relaxed pace, rejoin your vehicle for the ride back to your hotel to conclude your morning tour.

Not easy but worth the view
, Apr. 2022
Great hike! Such beautiful views and a wonderful guide Heinrich! He was so detailed and showed us everything! Loved having a small group. Although this hike is NO JOKE. Leaves, tree trunks and rocks are slippery. Wear good hiking shoes! When you get close to the top you need to use ropes to get up! Altogether 5 mile hike but worth every minute
Beautiful views!

Excellent hike, beautiful views, fantastic guide who provided a lot of history about French Polynesia. Recommend for highly active clients.
Great strenuous and informative hike
, May 2021
Great strenuous hike. My husband and I are moderately active, so this hike was nice and challenging. Our tour guide Enriq was on time for pickup, and very friendly and informative. He pointed out different plants and trees, and informed us about important issues with the forest. He also taught us about Tahitian culture and the impact of the French influence. We love hearing about daily life from the locals, so it was great to hear him speak on the culture. My husband loves plants so he was able to ask about different species of plants, and Enriq was very knowledgeable on the scientific names. As mentioned earlier, the hike itself was challenging for us. Especially with our camera gear and GoPro. I didn’t really get to capture as much because I focused on making sure I wouldn’t slip. We also wanted to keep pace to ensure that we departed on time. The view points that Enriq took us to were beautiful and definitely rewarding. He even offered to take pictures of us. Overall, a great experience! Important tips: 1. Make sure that you’re in your hotel lobby in time for pick up. They have a strict 15 minute courtesy for pick up. There was supposed to be another couple on the hike, but no word from them within 15 minutes so we had to leave to start the tour. 2. Bring sunblock, bug spray, and good shoes with grip. The ground on the hike can be a bit wet. There are also lots of rocks and tree roots to step on. 3. For two people, I suggest bringing 2 water bottles per person or a big water bottle per person. You sweat A LOT. Lol

Nice ascent in a wonderful setting
, Dec. 2020
An excellent hike in a beautiful setting. The tour itself would be rated at 5 stars if not for the following. Immediately upon pick-up at the hotel, the guide attempted to change the tour from the trail hike to an easier walk through vanilla fields. The actual phrase used by the guide was "The hike is too difficult for madame" without any attempt to ascertain our fitness. We tried to play it off by making a joke out of it, but for some reason we had to be insistent in receiving the tour that we booked. We both run marathons and there was absolutely no problem in completing the ascent. Later the guide actually expressed surprise at the successful climb. I don't know if this is a cultural thing among the French ex-pats, but making a comment about a female without cause is inappropriate and uncalled for. To make two derogatory comments when we've hired you to perform a service is unconscionable. While on the trail, the guide was helpful and knowledgeable...we would recommend this hike to others on that basis.
Beautiful Hike, Guide too fast to enjoy
, Oct. 2020
The hiking pace of the guide was way too fast to enjoy the hike, especially for a hike that had lots of roots, trees, mud, and rocks in the trail. The hike itself though was beautiful. Make sure to bring solid hiking boots and lots of water.

Slippery in the rain, but otherwise good
, Feb. 2020
Very helpful and friendly guide. It was raining on our hike, so it was very slippery. The hike we took had some very steep segments, and both my wife and I are very physically fit. So I would recommend that elderly people think twice before taking this hike. However, it was nice to see the ancient Polynesian Temples. The views and the hike through the jungle were nice.

The hike is definitely not too hard for someone who is in good physical health and the views on the top are spectacular. The guide Michel is very knowledgeable and gave us much information about the vegetation and the area and it is indeed beautiful. My only complaint was the website is a bit deceptive claiming there is a waterfall when in fact there is none but only a tiny creek with barely a trickle of water flowing down barely enough to wet your toes.

This was a great hike which took us up a mountain to 1000m. Our guide was great but would have liked a little more information while taking the height. Unfortunately we were not able to take a dip in a waterfall due to a rainstorm the day we had our hike. It was definitely more challenging then what the description suggested. For my husband, my sister and I we had no problem but our dad who is 74 had a little more difficulty with the steep terrain near the top of the mountain. However, the views from the top were spectacular. It was a great way to spend the morning and get in a little exercise.

An awesome hike, with a guide who is very passionate and knowledgable about his surroundings. The hike was well paced, and had plenty of rest breaks, as needed. The view points of the entire Moorea caldera are quite spectacular. For those who are more adventurous there is an even better view point overlooking a 250-300 ft cliff. Overall an excellent hike.

Fantastic tour. A great workout in the mountains. Our guide maintained a steady but doable hiking pace and we took several breaks to catch our breaths and take in the scenery. When we reached the top we enjoyed sweet grapefruit seriously amazing- I hate grapefruit but I loved this our guide had packed to share. Wonderful way to spent the morning.
