Brock, our boat captain, was so wonderful. He was very informative and fun. We had so much fun on this tour. Would decibel book again. Oak alley was beautiful. Our guide jennelle was very nice. She was happy to answer any questions we had about the house. The grounds were stunning.

Very disappointing Tour

Bus driver droned on and on, never stopped talking and basically had nothing to say. The length of the bus ride should have been in the description. Ride was too long and not nearly enough time at the Plantation. Plantation tour was too short and too crowded. The guide was talking about something in a room when half the tour was still in another room because there were so many people they could all get in 1 room. Swamp boat captain was good and boat ride was fun.

We are sorry about your experience with the driver and the plantation. We are glad to know that you enjoyed the swamp tour. Thank you for the feedback and we will use it to improve our tours.

Skip oak alley/swamp tour is amazing

Honestly the only reason this review gets a 4-5 star rating is the swamp boat tour WAS that GOOD. Oak alley was a let down to me and about 3/4s of the tour group we were with had the exact same thought process. Very few original artifacts, just in general another waste of my time that I'll never get back. About an hour and 20 minutes travel time to get there as well. But the swamp tour was soo good and so much fun, definitely worth the money and time I would do it all over again 5 times if I could. Captain Reggie was the best captain I could've imagined. Our tour bus operator was about 15 minutes late picking us up but it was very easy to call them and find out what was going on.

Swamp tour with alligator viewing was excellent. The Oak Alley plantation was okay but not worth the 2 hour round trip. Many areas of the home were not accessible.

Excellent and unique tour. We were picked up at our hotel by Gary, who pointed out landmarks and history from his experience in the area. Plantation visit had a good balance of guided tour inside the big house and time to walk the grounds and learn about the way the enslaved people lived. Loved seeing live alligators and even holding a baby on the swamp boat.

Great experience!

Overall we really enjoyed our trip. The day started with hotel pick up. Please note the pick up window is a half hour window. We were then transported to the plantation, about an hour ride. We enjoyed our bus drivers information as we passed various parts of the city. Our Bus driver survived Katrina and gave us a inside story of how he survived. Very good. The plantation was awesome. Historical, beautiful and moving with the stories. Next we were transported and we got to the swamp tour. We chose the covered boat, which I would recommend. It wasn’t very hot but when you get in the back areas out of the breeze, we were glad to have a shaded roof. Also the airboats were really loud and those passengers have to wear ear protection. Glad we chose the option we chose. Would recommend! Family friendly. End of March weather was PERFECT!

Beautiful plantation and knowledgeable staff. Boat ride was entertaining and we saw a few alligators. However, they feed the alligators marshmallows, which is bad for the alligators (google it). Our bus driver Mr. Boue gave us an insider's perspective of New Orleans and was fun.

Nice one day trip from...
Yoshie_T

Nice one day trip from New Orleans. The tour offers transportation and tickets for the Oak Alley Plantation and a swamp boat tour. Participants will join tours provided at each stop. Would recommend it for those who will visit/stay at New Orleans without driving on your own. The plantation was worth visiting. Would have been perfect if we were able to stay longer... we had to give up visiting some exhibits as there was not enough time to have lunch. The swamp tour was okay, but too long given that there was not much to see other than water and plants in the chilly weather. Should have been noted in the tour description that we should not expect to see any animals during winter season. For those who traveling in winter a shorter tour without a swamp visit would be enough. On the whole the tour was worth the money.
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
Thank you for the positive feedback. Alligators are known to hibernate in the winter and our direct brochures and website do mention that.

We really enjoyed the trip to the plantation and swamp. The plantation was beautiful and very historical. Lots of interesting information and great landscaping and scenery! We enjoyed learning about deep history of the area. The swamp tour was also fun. The weather wasn't great that afternoon, so we were grateful for being on the bigger group boat, as it was covered/enclosed where the smaller groups went on airboats and were exposed and soooo cold. Our boat captain was informative and fun. We enjoyed learning about the bayou. We would go again!

The Oak Alley was interesting but the swamp tour was disappointing because it was just open waterways .
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
Thank you for your feedback, Robert. You chose the pontoon boat option, and the boat is quite large, so it does have to stay in more open areas of the swamp. However, the airboat option allows the boat to go deeper into the swamp since that's what you prefer. Also, the catastrophic Hurricane Ida has changed the land and water drastically as we were in the direct path of the storm, so we are trying to navigate through what we can. We do appreciate your positive feedback once again- thank you.
