Driver acting crazy
Michael_G
, Jul. 2022
Drive back was nerve racking. Was sitting behind driver who must have been high on something. He was fidgeting constantly, banging on the steering wheel, weaving and bobbing in his seat, banging his hands on the console. He had his hands off the wheel more than it was on.

Thank you for your feedback. The road on the way back from the plantation is truly in bad shape. We do apologize about that inconvenience, but it's out of our control. The driver does his best to dodge potholes and bumps, so that could be mistaken for his erratic driving. Our guests' feedback is important to us. So, we did call a few other guests on the same bus as you. They too, agreed that the road was not the most pleasant, but the driver did warn everyone that by him dodging the potholes, it may look like he's driving in a crazy manner. Other than that, we received mostly positive feedbacks about the driver.

Tour guide was superb! Lots of details, one came away knowing the people who lived and worked in the mansion.

Impressive house but better plantations that offer more insight on offer.
Jacky_F
, May 2022
I was impressed by the beauty of the gardens but unimpressed by the tour commentary inside the house. It’s quite expensive and very quick. The tour guide’s presentation was awful and she didn’t engage with the group at all, speaking as though she was a recording and someone else was pressing play and pause. She merely recited what she had learned and there was no real character to what was delivered. It was disappointing that so little emphasis was given to slave history.
icon Response from Host , May 2022
Thank you for the feedback. Our company only offers transportation to and from the plantation. We do not have any ownership or control over how the tours are. We are sorry about your experience.

It was a nice tour,...
Marceline_B

It was a nice tour, although I didn’t feel like they spent enough time on telling us the history on the people who were enslaved. Only 40 minutes and 33 years of history right before our eyes.

Thank you for the positive review, Marceli!

Oak Alley, an historical treasure!
June_M
, May 2022
Oak Alley Plantation tour provides a window into plantation life in the 1800s, not only for the owners, but also for the slaves. It was a very informative tour, and the exhibits help tell the story of plantation life. So glad this historical treasure has been saved. We enjoyed our tour, and recommend it to others.

Slave Master life
Sonya_B
, Apr. 2022
I picked the wrong plantation tour. I was interested in the life of a slave on a plantation. This was more about the owner of the house, how the house was built and life as a slave master and How they lost their fortune.
icon Response from Host , Apr. 2022
Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry that you feel that way about your experience of the Oak Alley Plantation. We will forward the feedback to them since we only provide the transportation to and from the plantation. We do not have any ownership of Oak Alley nor do we have control over the content of the tour.

Learning about the slaves life. The sugar cane movie. The tour guide was good. Great bus driver. When I compare it to Whitney, more personalized and more history,

Was a nice tour - all the facilities were impeccable, the bread pudding at the cafe is superb! Wish we had just a bit more time. Beautiful place.

A worthwhile day trip.
John_F
, Mar. 2022
The grounds were impressive. Our tour guide seemed very knowledgeable. The house tour was informative an extra 30 minutes on site at the end would have been nice. The trip home wad extended for us because our bus included people going directly to a swamp tour. This added 30 minutes more for those wanting to return to their hotel.

Not that great
Alla_P
, Feb. 2022
The house tour was good, but the driver didn’t say a word during 2.5 hours on a road. I am expected that he would talk about history or give us some interesting conversation.
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
I'm sorry about your experience. Our driver's main duty is to drive our guests safely to and from the plantation. He or she is not obligated to give a tour. We do not own Oak Alley, we only provide transportation for the guests. Thank you for your feedback.

Beautiful Plantation with a lot of history
houston5050
, Feb. 2022
Beautiful Plantation with a lot of history. Negatives - the tour bus was the roughest ride I have ever experienced and I literally could barely walk when dropped off afterward due to back pain. One of the windows on the bus rattled so badly we thought it was going to fall out. The Tour guide (Anthony) was extremely knowledgeable but his cajun accent made it very hard to understand him at times.
icon Response from Host , Feb. 2022
We do apologize for your experience on the bus. Unfortunately, the road to get to Oak Alley Plantation is really rough, but that's out of our control. Thank you for your positive feedback!

The guides. So knowledgeable and open to answer all questions. Seemed like they really wanted to make us all understand the full difficult history of this beautiful place.

Great experience

Loved our bus driver! Unfortunately I didn't catch his name but he was a lively and funny man with plenty of good stories to keep us entertained during the ride. At the plantation itself, we spoke with Stephen who was a fantastically knowledgeable tour guide. You can tell he loves his job and wants to share his knowledge with guests.

Thank you for the great review, Natasha!

Simply AMAZING
Cedric_S
, Dec. 2021
My fiance and I had such an amazing time at the Oak Alley Plantation this past weekend. Just to experience what took place over 300 years ago was unexplainable. The tour was great. Ann did such an amazing job giving us the background history of Oak Alley. Then we were able to walk the grounds, looks inside the living quarters of the slaves, take picture outside in the flower gardens, and witness the 300 old Oak Tree. We ended our tour going to the restaurant. The fried fish and the fried green tomatoes was amazing. I highly recommend visiting Oak Alley Plantation when visiting louisiana

Our driver, Gary, was great. Told fun, interesting stories about the area on the 1 hour drive to the plantation. The house tour was a little short but there was plenty of time to walk the grounds. Nice little restaurant and gift shop.
