Beginner Scuba Diving with Turtles in Honolulu

It was my first time scuba diving and I had a great experience. Ken was very informative and paid attention to safety. He taught us the basics well and made the experience fun. We saw fish, turtles, coral reefs etc. Highly recommended.

Went with my 15 year old daughter. There were only a total of six of us in our group, which was the perfect group size. Ken from Rainbow dive tours was our scuba instructor and guide. He met us at the pier and gave us an amazing scuba instruction for about an hour and a half while we were on the boat and while we were sailing to the dive sites. He was very patient with all of us and wanted to make sure that each and every one of us was prepared to and could handle the scuba diving. Safety was the most important thing for him as well as doing the right thing for his customers. After the instruction, we went to the first dive site and Ken took the time to get us acclimated to the water and diving. The first dive was about 30 minutes which was more than enough time to start out. My daughter and I felt fully safe and comfortable on the dive. We had snorkeled and snuba dived before which was a little helpful but scuba diving really is a unique experience. We then went to another dive spot and the second dive seemed a lot easier. This dive was also 30 minutes and we actually got to swim with and on top of turtles. Ken took us to a reef where all the sea turtles hang out and they let you come up to them as if you were kissing them. We got some great shots down there. I have now checked scuba diving off my bucket list and would not have been able to do it with anyone else. Thank you Ken for a most exciting 3.5 hour dive tour. Stop wasting you time looking elsewhere for a two dive beginners tour. This is it!

I grew up on watching Jacques Cousteau's videos and always wanted to try scuba diving myself. This tour made it happen and it exceeded all my expectations! Prior to going to the diving spot, our instructor thoroughly laid out the tour plan, safety instructions, all necessary do's and don't's. When we arrived at the diving spot on a boat, the instructor went over the diving equipment and demonstrated how to use it. All explanations were clear and to the point, without overwhelming technical details unnecessary for a first-timer like me. We were then trained about how to properly wear/adjust the mask, how to get rid of water if it accidentally get inside the mask during the dive. We then had a hands-on training on how to use the breathing equipment, how to properly breath underwater for optimal oxygen consumption and basic buoyancy control. The instructor really took his time and answered all the questions my group had in order to ensure that we were all mentally prepared before jumping into the water. After the in-boat training we put on the equipment and did another round of training in the water. The instructor made sure that each and everyone was comfortable performing the following underwater: breathe optimally and calmly, remove water from the mask, put the regulator back into the mouth in case if it accidentally is removed. After all the training we did 2 dives and it all went super smooth. The first dive was exploratory and relatively short, but we were able to swim at the ocean bottom and see a plethora of pretty fish and corals :) The second dive was much longer and we saw ~5 big turtles! That was super cool!!! All in all, the tour was smooth, informative, and full of excitement and positive spirit thanks to our instructor! The instructor is super flexible, witty, knowledgable and puts your safety first above all!

The scuba trip overall was not bad at all. However we had to people on our dive that could not do it which took a while for dive one. We ended up getting about 5 minutes of exploring on the first dive. Then about 25 minutes on the second dive. Wish the first dive would have been longer.

Seeing the sea creatures was amazing. Ken was so nice and instructive. Even though it was my first time, l was able dive. It definitely worth it 👌.

Ken was awesome! I’m PADI certified and my husband isn’t and we had a blast. Ken explained everything well and we went on two dives. The second one we saw 5 huge sea turtles! He took a video and sent the link after, which was really cool! Definitely recommend!!

Ken and Hideki-san were wonderful guides. This was my first time scuba diving and while I made a couple mistakes, they are totally on me. Ken was able to teach a tremendous amount of information in a short amount of time AND was somehow able to keep track on, and guide us underwater at the same time. I chatted with Hideki for a good amount of the ride and he's a great guy too! In the absolute worst circumstance, you're still going to get a lovely boat ride out of this. I'll definitely be going for my scuba cert after this! Thanks Ken and Hideki-san!

This was the highlight of our vacation! Ken was an excellent coach and really took the time to make sure we were comfortable with the fundamentals before making the descent. Once down at the bottom, we got to see sea turtles, eels, reef sharks, pipefish, an octopus, and more! We didn’t want to come back up and are now fully motivated to get certified! We couldn’t have asked for a better first time scuba experience! Highly recommend!!!

Overall wouldn't recommend. The instructor (Ken) was putting his mouth on a mouth piece to show us how to work it for the first hour of the trip and then gave that gear setup for me to use. Then when attaching the gear he dropped the pressure gauge directly on me in my groin area and walked away. A very good part of the beginning portion was his word to "make things right and give your money back to part ways to do the right thing". Knowing this and how I didnt want to ruin anyone else's fun I then told him as soon as I started hyperventilating from the air tube that I was not having a fun time and wanted to get out of the water. He refused and told me to try again. I then repeated I didn't want to keep going and he told me again that I needed to try again. It doesn't surprise me that people have panic attacks under the water and pull off their breathing tube and swim up too fast ending up in the hospital. I requested a refund and was denied. I have been skydiving and that was easy compared to this. If you want a better tour then book it with someone else. Tons of options in hawaii. Not my ideal way to spend my honeymoon 2 days after getting married.
