The Gold Exhibition The Mint's Gold Exhibition is a world-class destination which brings the history of Western Australian gold, and The Perth Mint, to life. Offering a unique combination of attractions, it gives you the rare opportunity to experience the emotive journey of gold discovery. The inspiring story of the search for gold unfolds in a multimedia extravaganza, with interactive displays, historic images and aged artefacts forming the backdrop to a glittering array of pure gold exhibits. Marvel at the largest coin ever made, weighing one tonne of pure gold; view Australia's most dazzling display of natural gold nuggets; watch molten gold being poured to form a gleaming solid gold bar; handle more than $700,000 worth of gold bullion and much more! Record Breaking Coin The centrepiece of the Gold Exhibition is the Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin, the largest and most valuable coin ever made. Tipping the scale at a massive one tonne of 99.99% pure gold, this colossal coin measures 80cm wide and more than 12cm deep. Holding a prestigious Guinness World Record, this monumental masterpiece is valued at more than $50million and is showcased in all its golden glory on a revolving platform. Watch a Gold Pour Witness the amazing spectacle of a traditional gold pour in The Perth Mint's original melting house, during which pure gold is heated to molten temperatures and transformed into a gleaming solid gold bar. Australia’s Largest Natural Nugget Collection Many early prospectors spent years enduring the harsh conditions of the Australian outback in search of the illusive gold nugget. Golden Memories

The most memorable parts of this tour were the gold pour, trying to lift the gold bar and minting a coin to commemorate Mother’s Day, my 50th Birthday and my husband’s 54th Birthday. This tour is very rich in history. It was even made more interesting by our tour guide, Clay. A very smart and amusing young lady. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city of Perth.

Three and a half days...

Three and a half days later, since arriving home, both my wife and I have tested Covid positive, and although It's impossible to pinpoint where this was caught, I now believe the RAT test required before boarding the Indian Pacific train in Perth should have been witnessed as an extra safeguard to prevent the possibility of one dishonest person being allowed to mingle with others on the train in a virtually a closed environment, for the next four days. The experience otherwise is an enjoyable one. After booking the trip in 2019 and waiting two plus years for it to eventuate we're both extremely dissapointed that the above mentioned extra precaution to safeguard the health of hundreds relies on the 100% honesty of passengers.

Dear Robert Thank you for your 5 star review. Upon reading your post, we believe your review is intended for the Indian Pacific Train (departing from Perth), not for The Perth Mint. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience on the Indian Pacific after your initial booking in 2019 and despite your now positive testing to covid. We wish you and your wife a speedy recovery and hope you feel much better soon. Kind regards The Perth Mint
