Nice tour but too much talking from the guide and not enough biking. I would like to have seen more and heard less.
Response from Host , Oct. 2021
Judith, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the talking; just as a note to future guests, we do include some narrative in our bike tours, as we find that it's one of the demands that most tour participants agree on. We won't be reducing the amount of history, cultural and art narrative we provide, as that's what this tour is about. I chatted with your guide, and he said that he rode the longest route we usually do -- about 10.5 miles. If you're looking for a ride without talking, we suggest you come to us to rent bikes and we'll send you on your way!

Spend your money elsewhere

Bit of a disappointment. Overall, the stop points were not impressive nor significant. Our tour guide Dustin was very personable and knowledgable but he did go off on a political tangent at some point. Bikes were very comfortable and easy to ride. Efficient check in and out process.
Response from Host , Oct. 2021
Hi there! I've chatted with your guide and his impression was that you were having a rough time with some of the stories about Portland's activism, which is understandable; we are a lot more progressive than other cities. As we got great reviews from the other guests that day, I feel like this may have been a situation where your expectations of the city were not matched by the realities of the city. We can't wow everyone, Paris or New York this is not. For those reading through the reviews to the end, we definitely don't intend to show you architectural wonders of the world on this tour, but the unique and (we think) awesome things that make Portland so different from larger cities and those with a less activist viewpoint. If you're visiting Portland and not New York or Paris, we believe that our tour will show you the true city, with all of its adorableness and some of its struggles.

Kinda Boring
Kelsey_E
, Jul. 2021
I love a good bike tour. My husband and I seek them out in almost every major city we go to. It’s a great way to see a city except Portland. We did not love this tour. It wasn’t bad per say. The bikes were in great shape and comfortable to ride. The ride itself was just kinda boring - not much to see, didn’t learn a whole lot, and moved very slowly. We stopped to just stand around a lot. After successfully cruising around on the Nike ebikes, this was just not worth it. Plus I didn’t feel like I learned much of anything about Portland other than how nice the bike infrastructure was - seriously, we went to a whole section of town because they had good bike infrastructure. Save your time and money and just use a Nike bike and google maps.
Response from Host , Jul. 2021
Kelsey, I’m sorry you felt the tour was boring. It’s worth noting that your review came in at the same time as another review from your very same group that absolutely loved the guide and the tour content, so I’m left without a lot of helpful feedback for my guide, who I know to be a wonderful resource with plenty of great information. It seems that you didn’t personally connect with either her or the city; I guess that is the nature of Portland’s quirky soul.
It’s been a challenge for us as people begin their first trips after COVID; some are glowingly happy and others seem to have expectations vastly different than the experience we offer. It is not a fast ride through a flashy city with an enormous variety of famous sites; that’s just not the city Portland is.
We don’t visit a whole section of town just because they have good bike infrastructure, and I’m curious if you had an opportunity to hear the guide tell the stories of the neighborhood’s development and the aerial tram that you surely visited in that neighborhood.
Certainly if you prefer not to meet locals or interact with other tour guests, the Nike bikes and google maps are the way to go!
Amazing experience

Have a free morning on your hand? Take advantage and learn things about Portland you may not have known!

My daughter and I enjoyed this tour on July 5 when we both found ourselves free for the day. We made a quick decision that morning and drove the 45 minutes from Salem area. We were so glad we did! Both our guides were helpful, knowledgeable and very pleasant to be with. They did a great job of both sharing the things they personally enjoyed about their city. I appreciated they were "emotionally intelligent" on what our small group was interested in and how long we wanted to stop at each place. The highlight for us was seeing Portland in a different light than what we see on the news. We would highly recommend making time to go on this tour.

Unique city tour

Unique way to get an intro to Portland while getting some fresh air and exercise. Bike ride was easy and fun, while learning some interesting facts about the city. Anna was great…very informative and entertaining while keeping us all safe while riding the streets and paths.

Ana was an absolute delight! We biked a fair amount of miles but the biking was relatively easy and felt wonderful on a warm morning. Ana took us to areas of Portland that we would never have come to on our own and taught us so much about the history of the city and the area in general. We go on a bike tour in every city that we travel to, but this tour was definitely one of our favorites. We would definitely recommend, 10/10. Thank you Ana for the beautiful morning and experience that we will never forget!

Nice intro to Portland

Easy ride, nice bikes with internal hubs, great ice cream stop (bring $!), and fun guides. A fun little introduction to Portland. Note that the bridge crossings might be challenging if you have fear of heights. We paired this with lunch at Cartopia which is only 2 blocks away.

Perfect Way to Explore the City
Jeremy
, May 2021
My wife and I took a trip to visit Portland for the first time. Since neither of us had been to the city before, we decided on a bike tour to try and get our bearings. And we're SO glad we did it! Our tour guide, Anais, was fantastic. She was fun, super knowledgeable about a million little things around the city, and picked some really great and unique spots to show us. It was the best way to start our trip and we'd recommend it to anyone!

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
