Shore Excursion: Roatan Paradise West Bay Beach with Lunch

This excursion was sold to us as all inclusive, IT WAS NOT! The beach location was great, staff friendly and helpful. The lunch was a choice of 3 items from the easy lunch menu and was we enjoyed our selection. However my understanding of AI would have included drinks but was told and only give one drink with meal, we had to purchase others. Another problem is the over bearing selling of massages by beach women. Also boys selling beads. Overall we enjoyed our day.

Everything was great except for the over abundance of solicitors on the beach. The security was readily available to encourage them to move along but you continually had to say No Thanks.

Very nice break.. Great food and drinks. Beach is clean and good for all ages.. Service is a bit slow, but worth the wait. We are not in a hurry anyway, RIGHT?

This tour was well organized. Pick up/departure from the cruise port was a bit slow, but once we were all there everything went smoothly. Everything except the road, which is not the tours fault. The roads are TERRIBLE, so driving is slow and bumpy. Once at the resort/beach, everything was ready and waiting. The director explained everything and got us situated. The beach was very pretty and there were lots of things to see and do at an extra cost, but this tour is just beach chair and lunch, so anything extra was expected to cost. Snorkeling was very good. Departure and getting back to the ship was fine. In all, it was a nice day trip to a very pretty beach.

It was an excellent tour and well worth the money. The hosts at the beach hotel could not have been more charming and courteous. With it being a 30 minute journey to the beach it affords a good look at the island as well. Highly recommended.

Tour operator was exactly where we were told to meet him on time and handed us off to our driver. Drive to West Bay Beach was very interesting, through forested scenery and glimpses of crystal clear water. The Paradise Beach Resort was stunning and the tour representative was friendly, and efficient. We had the best lounge chairs and umbrella and An amazing delicious lunch with drinks. Pool and gardens were shady and refreshing and the beach and ocean were a dream! Walk down the beach to the right until you find Earl's Mojito Bar...... 2 mojitos for 7.00 US......best on the beach!! You can't go wrong with this package from VIator.

An amazing day at the beach. Again well below the ships excursion price. Again, read the follow up e-mail mail folks for finding your guide. The included lunch was most delicious with plenty to eat even on the reduced menu for the excursion. I had to tell new friends on the beach who did not receive the lunch in their tour to only buy on main as you will not be able to eat all of it and they thanked me afterwards. Paradise beach club resort was very welcoming and attended to our every desire. Pads for the beach chair and shade with on beach ordering. If you bring your snorkeling gear, just walk down to the left side end of the beach, all the way to the end where you can go no further, for amazing fish. Do not pay for a separate snork trip.

The tour guides pick you up at the sidewalk outside the port gates. Get off the ship and follow the sidewalk around to the gates and cross the street. They'll be holding a sign for you. This is where all the non-ship tours pick up their guests. We took a 30 minute bus ride to the hotel. The roads in Roatan are not good. Plan on a bumpy ride. If you get car sick, you might want to prepare before getting into the bus. The trip to the hotel isn't the most scenic so don't fret if you get a middle seat on the bus. The hotel is quaint. It is right on the beach. It has a nice sized pool with lounge chairs. There are two bars to get something to drink and eat but the meal included with the tour is the bar closest to the beach. The tour guides and local service people were great. Super attentive and got you whatever you needed. Top marks in that department. The reason for 3 stars is that this is not a private beach. With that comes the constant barrage of people trying to sell you things. It was very noisy. If the foot traffic were gone, it would have 5 stars. Or if the beach were a lot bigger it wouldn't have been as noticeable. There is nothing the hotel can do about the foot traffic since it is a public beach. If you are looking for this type of atmosphere, I'm sure you will love it. I wanted something a little quieter and less intrusive to my vacation. But many of the people on our tour did not seem to mind the people selling things. In fact, they bought quite a bit of things from jewelry to t-shirts and a few got massages. Just know what you are getting into.

Although the beach was ok and the food good, the bus ride to the beach was horrible. There isn't much infrastructure in Roatan. Road wasn't paved. Many potholes. No guardrails. Deep drop off on sides. So much poverty and shacks along the way. Very depressing.

Finding the minivan was a challenge. The van was located off site of the pier area and no one new exactly where the van was among a multitude of vehicles. Once we found the right person everything went smoothly. Through no fault of the driver or viator the roads are some of the worse we have ever seen. Once we got to the resort we were treated very well and made to feel very welcome. A chair was provided for each of us as well as a foam mat. The beach was wonderful with sugar soft sand and crystal clear water. The vendors were not allowed into the areas around the chairs which was great. The lunch was very good and included anything we wanted to drink. Overall we would give this tour an 8 1/2 out of 10.
