    i definitely feel that you could do the vatican without a guide, the tour guide did provide thoughtful insights into the pieces, the vatican was super busy when I went, so I felt a bit rushed, but that wasn't necessarily because of the tour guide/operator, good tour and definitely worth it to skip the line and have the tickets already bought for you

    Missed the tour guide as we were told to pick up tickets at a specific office and when we got there it was closed. We arrived 5mins after the tour guide time and were told we missed it and they waited on us.

    Tour guide did not allow for enough time to view what she was vaguely describing. The only way to keep up with what she was saying was to constantly be by her side, which was impossible to do with a large group and the amount of people visiting the Vatican. Also, she separated from the group way too early, when she could have continued with the tour of the Museums prior to entering the Sistine Chapel, but instead provided us a meeting point after the Sistine Chapel, just for her not to be there at the time and place indicated. This was important as she indicated she was going to walk us through the Skip the line entrance for St Peter's Basilica. Instead, we had to go around the entire Museums, exit the Vatican, and stand in the extremely long line for the Basilica (when it was promised we would enter through the Skip the Line entrance). This was our second time visiting the Vatican so we do have a point of comparison. There are definitely better guides out there!
