  • PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT. WITHOUT IT, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE GUNA TERRITORY AND THE SAN BLAS ISLANDS.
  • Please be advised that San Blas is in the Guna territory, which is an autonomous, Indian zone. The services are very basic and most cabins are minimalistic. The Gunas will be providing all touristic services, such as meal preparations, car and boat transportations, lodging, and tour guiding. We are proud to be working with this friendly tribe and with each booking we give back to the community, supporting their customs and their traditional way of life. We kindly ask you to respect this beautiful culture and their simple way of life, leaving your expectations behind and learning about their innocent culture.

  • The car ride to San Blas takes 2.5 - 3 hours and for about one hour the drive leads over slow and curvy roads. If you get motion-sick, please plan accordingly.
  • Kindly confirm your pick-up address/hotel information as well as your WhatsApp number.
  • PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR A 2.5 to 3 HOUR CAR JOURNEY EACH WAY OVER BAD ROADS WITH POTHOLES, SLOW CURVES AND OFF-ROAD SECTIONS! THERE IS ALSO A 25-30 MINUTE BOAT RIDE TO YOUR FIRST ISLAND WHICH CAN GET QUITE BUMPY AND WET. We feel that the islands are worth the long drive, but some travelers have complained about the roads and the fast boat ride from and to the port. While we strive to provide our guests the best service and an unforgettable experience in San Blas, we are not responsible for road and ocean conditions, and we would like you to be aware of this fact :)
  • IMPORTANT SAN BLAS DISCLAIMER - PLEASE READ! While San Blas is a beautiful island archipelago with stunning beaches and clear waters, it also has its downsides, for which we would like to make you aware off. San Blas is very rustic without the amenities and standards you might be used to from home. Compared to places such as Tahiti and Maldives that are managed by international hotel chains, San Blas has remained autonomous without the influence of outsiders. When visiting San Blas, it should be viewed as a cultural experience where guests live with the Kunas and respect their traditions and ways of living. No aircondition No Wifi No luxury facilities Electricity only available between 6pm and 6am Water is a precious commodity in San Blas. It is either brought in by boat or pumped from the island well. Oftentimes pumps can malfunction and cause water outages. Beds and mattresses can be uncomfortable All services will all be handled by the indigenous Kuna. While Tao Travel 365 strives to provide the best service possible and train the Kuna in customer management, some of the below services are often out of our control. Car transportation (the ride to San Blas takes 2.5 to 3 hours, with 1.5 hours over slow, curvy roads with potholes. For those with motion sickness, please prepare accordingly) Boat transportation (depending on weather and ocean conditions, the 20-40 minute boat ride might be bumpy and wet with ocean spray). Island cabin management (cabins are very rustic and facilities, such as showers and bathrooms are often “home-made” with PVC pipes. Some guests have complained that sheets are old). Island kitchen (meal plans are repetitive and food might taste bland) Trash is a worldwide problem and unfortunately San Blas has not been spared from the ever increasing issue. During certain tides and ocean and wind conditions plastic trash from throughout the Caribbean ocean accumulates on the beaches of San Blas. While the local Kuna are working hard to collect the constant trash washing up on their beaches, guests will nevertheless find evidence of plastic spread out on the island. During the wet months (April - December) or during windless days, all of San Blas experiences sandflies, which are little blood-sucking flies that leave itchy marks. Please ensure to bring natural insect repellent and prepare to return to Panama City with a few itchy memories. Due to the complexity of the logistics involved with each reservation in San Blas (arranging cars, boats, cabins and meals), we kindly ask our guests to adhere to the itinerary schedule sent to them in advance of their trip to San Blas. For any changes in schedule, you must first contact our office and we will attempt to accommodate your request. Please note that additional fees may apply. We kindly ask our guests to lower their expectation when visiting San Blas and to focus on the beautiful paradise that San Blas has remained despite the effects that modern society has ceased to them. The Kunas are very gentle and kind people, but can also be somewhat shy at times. When approaching them with a smile and an open heart you will be guaranteed an innocent, happy smile in return.
  • The road to San Blas is very curvy with lots of hills and off-road sections. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, please prepare accordingly by bringing appropriate medication.

Unplug for 24 hours on a secluded Island
Sandra
, Feb. 2020
We had a blast. There were basic accommodations. We stayed in huts on single beds with netting. Unless you speak Spanish, communications about how long you would stay on each island and what you would be doing was not very clear. The boat ride was pretty brutal be prepared to get wet and sit towards the back in the middle so the vibration of the boat hitting waves will not pound your behind! 😳 Snorkeling was not the best and not much for shopping for souvenirs. If you are wanting to unplug for the day, this is for you.

Hi Birgit, We are very sorry you were not able to enjoy your stay in San Blas. We take every review very seriously and try to constantly improve our tours. Regarding your first point, we never admit more than 6 people in our shared transportation vehicles. We also don't employ Jeeps in our fleet of cars. The particular car you were in was a Toyota 4runner and there were 6 passengers. The particular boat you were in unfortunately did not have cushions as advertised and we apologize for that convenience. We employ four boats, all with cushions, That particular day, due to logistics with our guests we had to employ another boat which unfortunately did not have the usual comfortable seating option available. Again, we apologize and trust us we focus on every detail for our guests. Regarding your comment about not having a guide. Your boat guide "Blanco" gave you a thorough briefing, explaining the details about the islands and the population. We are not sure, why you are making this comment since you had your personal, english-speaking guide available for questions and concerns. We feel your comments about the Kuna culture are very unfair. We have been working with this tribe for many years and feel this is a beautiful, still very innocent population. While they may not be as outgoing and cheerful as you had expected, they are very warm and friendly when given the chance. San Blas is known to be one of the last, pristine countries on this planet with its population still adhering to their own rules and standards, without interference from other governments and cultures. The beauty of the people and the islands can best be appreciated when immersing yourself in this new, pure culture without imposing our own expectations on how you want them to be. Your guide clearly stated that you would be able to "upgrade" your meal to a lobster meal for a $10 extra charge. The boats that operate in San Blas have limited protection for luggage and belongings. All luggage is stowed up front underneath a small opening, trying to protect it from sun and rain. Depending on the amount of luggage, at times not all luggage may be well protected. None of the boats in San Blas will be able to fully cover your luggage and should not be expected when visiting this island archipelago. Our listing clearly states/warns of potential sea spray. Guests may prepare by bringing their own rain covers. We clearly state the inclusions and exclusions. Each island has a limited amount of beach chairs. Each island is owned by a different Kuna who live of preparing their island for the guests and keeping it clean and pristine. Chairs or umbrellas may be rented for a nominal fee, which helps support the Kuna resident. We hope you understand that Kunas welcome guests to their island and "run a business" by renting optional items (such as beach chairs, umbrellas, SUP boards, etc) and selling items, such as fresh coconuts, souvenirs and Kuna bread. Again, since you are stressing the "unfriendliness" of the Kuna population, while we respect your opinion, we want to clarify that different cultures have different behaviors. Our experience with them, both personal and from guest feedback, is very positive and we are proud to work with this wonderful and interesting tribe, while at the same helping them remain pure and independent of other customs. Regarding our business, we are sorry you feel that you did not receive a good deal. From our business research we know that our prices are extremely competitive, if not better than most other providers. Our friendly customer service is available 24/7, with rapid response times. We do take your review into consideration in order to keep improving our product, but we also feel many facts were misrepresented and unfair to both the Kuna population, our company and the whole Day Tour. We are very proud of our San Blas day tour being able to share the beauties of the islands with our guests. We have had great feedback and will continue improving our services in order to remain the best San Blas Day tour in Panama.
