Once inside the park, let your imagination run free as you explore highlights among more than 3,000 structures that archaeologists have excavated so far. Tikal boasts an array of magnificent ceremonial temples. Climb the steep staircase of the 144-foot (44-meter) Temple of the Grand Jaguar, built to honor a Mayan king. A set of twin pyramids with altars will greet you at complexes Q and R. Marvel at the Temple of the Masks, which was once adorned with intricate ceremonial mask carvings. Perhaps most impressive is the oft-photographed Temple IV, also known as the Double Head Serpent.

FABULOUS day trip to Tikal with Luis 😀

    , Aug. 2022
Our day was FABULOUS starting with Edgar who drove us to the border, he was so friendly and professional and we had a great ride with him there ( and back ). Once we got through customs etc at the border Adexx and Luis were there to take us on our day trip adventure to Tikal!! We stopped for an amazing breakfast, then at a local shop for some goodies and then we were on our way to Tikal. Luis was AMAZING…. Best guide ever and he knew EVERYONE there. He was soooo knowledgeable and kept us up on all there was to know, a wonderful and great person we are happy to now know 😀. Adexx got us to and from safely and we giggled about some things along the way! The day was WAY more great then we had even expected!! Would HIGHLY recommend this company and their amazing staff‼️

Our tour guide was Luis. He was super knowledgeable and brought local knowledge as well as that of the Mayan culture, the Tikal site and much more. It was a very fulfilling day. We had fun, experienced the local cuisine for lunch (and a breakfast bonus at a local spot - we had to pay but it was fantastic). The site is an incredible perspective of the civilization they built. We understood why it is a UNESCO World Heritage site!

Our guide Marco was very insightful and we really enjoyed our time at Tikal. The whole tour went smoothly. The lunch at the end of the tour was great. Highly recommended! It’s worth noting that you may want to get some Guatemalan currency if you want to get souvenirs as USD isn’t as widely accepted as it is in Belize.

We had a wonderful day trip to Tikal with Belize Family Adventures. Our guide, Mariela, was just phenomenal. She took great care of us, from the Belize-Guatemala border all the way to Tikal (including a stop for a great Guatemalan coffee break) and back. She was very knowledgeable about Mayan history, the Tikal dynasties and anything related to the site, the discoveries, the traditions and the Mayan gods. She took the time to answer all the questions from the group, always with a smile and a great sense of humour. She gave us all the time we wanted to explore around, climb the pyramids, admire the beauty all around us… We had an amazing glimpse into the Mayan world and culture and strongly recommend this tour!

An exceptional guide brings history to life. Our guide, Marco, offered many insights into the Mayan culture, beliefs, and history, including reasons for the the designs of the temples and a sense of everyday life throughout the period. He let us take it at our pace and seemed to sense whatever level of detail would be just right. Belize Family Adventures arranged seamless transportation from San Ignacio to Tikal and back, including the handoffs both ways at the border. The lunch was at a Tikal restaurant and was very good.

We had an amazing day trip to Tikal. Our guide Maria was phenomenal and made the ruins come alive. A couple notes: the drive is about two hours but very scenic. Crossing the border was time consuming. Make sure you have money for crossing into Guatemala. Also during Covid, make sure you get tested 72 hours in advance. If not you could get tested at border, but it takes awhile. All in all, be patient. It’s well worth it!

Amazing site. Rich history provided by our informative guide Mariella. Unbelievably vast archeological site. Astounding what these people built without beasts of burden or the wheel. Delicious lunch included.

Our guides , Leo and Eduardo were amazing . Leo is very knowledgeable and obviously proud of his culture and the Mayan beliefs which made the tour interesting . The ruins themselves were just beautiful. The drive was a little hairy on a rainy day but it was a bonus adventure mudding .

We originally purchased this tour and we’re super excited but then we were informed due to COVID and not being in phase 2 they couldn’t provide it.It was a real bummer but understandable. However they did offer an alternative and despite us not doing our research on it as I did with this tour, we agreed and by far exceeded experience and expectations. We called late the night before from our hotel desk because no one confirmed our pick up time or if Tikal was still a go. We had someone respond right away and the next day bright and early we got picked up from our hotel. Leo was our tour guide grabbed us early barely took a coffee and we went to caracol among other mini stops on our way back. Maybe phase 2 will lift by end of July if not, and you’re worried about having a gap filler for your excursions and up for the challenge I highly recommend their option to go to Caracol. Tikal was more expensive by $25 or so, I was expecting a refund but after doing the actual full day trip and had such an incredible experience I don’t think I needed to even bother for the price difference. The food they offer as well is delicious

The place is incredible, totally worth to go. The guide was super friendly, knew a lot about the site and the culture. The tour took a bit longer than expected (we were supposed to be back in San Ignacio around 16 but we arrived 17:30) so have in mind that it can be longer.

Booking was easy & the communication has been brilliant. We were picked up from our hotel & travelled to the border in a comfortable vehicle. We then crossed the border where our guide was waiting. Another comfortable air con vehicle. Our guide was very knowledgable, we were probably in Tikal for approximately 3-4 hours. It’s absolutely incredible & mind blowing what the ancient Mayan’s have done. After the tour we had a lovely lunch & headed home. A very hot day with lots of walking so don’t forget water& comfortable shoes. Most of the walking is under the tree canopy but it was still hot. A full day too but well worth it

    Tikal Day Trip

We were picked up at our hotel on time and driven to the Guatemala border where our guide helped us cross and introduced us to our guide for the day. We had a fantastic day viewing many of the temples and pyramids of Tikal. We climbed four. Our guide was knowledgeable answered every question. After walking around Tikal for about five hours we had a great lunch and sis a little souvenir shopping before heading back to San Ignacio. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

This was an absolutely beautiful day with memories for a lifetime. We took this trip in October and it was very very nice. We had two tour guides, one on either side of the border. The guides were both so wonderful and were very knowledgeable. The ruins were second to none. We were able to climb to the top and overlook the jungle, it was very cool.

This was a great experience. Its a long ride from Belize but it is well worth the drive. We had very experienced drivers both in Belize and Guatemala that guided us through the crossing of the boarder. Be aware, it will take a bit of time to get through the Belize boarder but the Guatemala boarder was efficient. Once we made the drive to Tikal there was a lot of history - from the types of trees that are native to the Guatemalan culture and the area, to the history of each Mayan temple. There was also a reference to an interaction with the Aztec. This was such a fun experience. Note that its a long hike and you'll be scaling the structures with stairs that have been added for safety of the pedestrians and the structures. If you have the energy and interest I highly recommend it!

Wonderful trip! We were worn out be the end of the day. Hiking around the forest from one major temple to the next. We climbed four temples using wooden stairs each with about 140 to 200 stairs. We saw couti, agouti, spider monkeys, turkeys, and a grey fox.
