Venture through the rugged heart of Australia to the spectacular scenery of Kings Canyon. Get an early start to the day with morning pickup at Ayers Rock Resort, and travel in a comfortable coach through the rocky desert landscape. Start with breakfast at Kings Creek cattle and camel station — an expansive family-run estate that’s been operating since 1981. Get a sense of Outback station life with an optional camel ride (own expense) if you like.

Continue on to Watarrka National Park, home to Kings Canyon. Learn about the history of the massive red sandstone gorge from your guide, including its sacred meaning to the indigenous Ulpinyali and Lilla people.

Immerse yourself in the natural wonder with the choice of two walks. On the 3.5-mile (6-km) Rim Walk, make a strenuous elevation gain of 330 feet (100 meters) up a cliff to the canyon’s edge for thrilling views to the valley floor below. You’ll also follow a steep trail down into the canyon to a leafy, spring-fed oasis nicknamed the Garden of Eden. Or, opt for the more leisurely Creek Bed Walk that runs 1 mile (2 km) along the valley floor and offers a ground-level perspective of the towering canyon walls.

After your walk, recharge with lunch (own expense) and a swim at the nearby Kings Canyon Resort, and then relax and rest your muscles on the scenic return drive to Ayers Rock Resort.

    Great tour
    , Aug. 2022
Flexible trip where you can do the very steep rim walk, or the gentle valley walk. We did the easy option and our guide pointed out so many plants of interest plus some history. Amazing scenery.
    Spectacular scenery
    , Aug. 2022
Loved the entire day, the stories about the local peoples connection to the land and then the amazing walk. Coming across 'Garden of Eden ' a beautiful waterhole and the spectacular scenery.
    Experience the real Australia

Very welcomed cooked breakfast. Seeing brumbys. Just about the whole of the rim walk. Views were incredible. Seeing the crack that caused the formation of the canyon. Lovely guide and an amazing driver who drove us 700kms and stayed cheerful.

Do it and tick it off your bucket list. It’s a very strenuous climb/walk but well worth the effort because you’re awarded with amazing views. I saw a beautiful little lizard scuttling on the rocks. I was very fortunate to be with a group of lovely people who looked after me. Big thank you to our guides, Grace and Colin for their help, encouragement and patience.
Practically perfect despite the long journey.
    , Jul. 2022
We loved the creek bed walk as we learned of the plants and birds. Looking up the sides of the canyon was also amazing. We were also fortunate to do the rim by helicopter. What an experience!

Great tour and great driver and guide really good hike. Beautiful area to hike around. Guides knowledgeable and fun
Add it to the bucket list, but be informed of what to expect
    , Jun. 2022
Ok, so this trip is one you have to do, Kings Canyon is amazing and totally worth seeing. Our tour guides Colin and Grace were very informative, kept the trip from feeling long (it’s a 3hr coach ride from Ayer’s Rock Resort) with little tit bits of info along the way and made us feel at home with the group. Yes you are hiking with other intrepid travellers, so you can’t go at your own pace but we had a great hike regardless. It’s an early start too, Coach left ARR at 4:45 am. Stopped along the way for a much needed breakfast at Kings Station before the hike. We did the Rim Walk, the first part being a quick ascent up 500 rocky steps, no rails to hold onto, but once past here it was relatively easy. Was around 3hrs hiking but didn’t feel like it, you have to bring at least 1.5 litres of water per person, take snacks, camera, hat, sunscreen to ensure you come back from the hike happy and healthy! But definitely consider doing this hike, it’s well run, with the option of a lunch stop after the hike, and a break from the drive on the way back at Curtin Springs Station.
    Amazing experience

The staff were all knowledgeable and great. Food was yummy! Only would’ve liked to have know that you needed 2ltrs of water to climb and then had to pay $7.50 for 1.5ltr.

The rim walk was spectacular! It was a bit hard at the beginning to climb up the 500 steps, but well worth the effort.

The driver and guides - Anna, Grace and Jacob - were terrific. A lovely day and great walk. The whole trip was well organised and loved the stories they told.
    A day's outing to King's Canyon
    , Jun. 2022
Visiting Kings Canyon is a very memorable experience with the great crew from AAT-Kings. Thank you Jacob, Jess and Anna. It was a wet, cold day unusual for Central Australia but we got to see running water in the creek. Did the base walk rather than the rim and glad we did so in the bleak conditions. Enjoyed great breakfast on the way to set us up for the day A must do!
    Great day tour highly recommended

    An amazing and full day
    , May 2022
Kings Canyon was a wonderful sight to see but I feel the day was made perfect due to our guide (Pauline) and driver (Colin). Pauline's talks were informative and her knowledge of plants, geology and history was amazing, keeping all in the bus entertained. Colin was also a good guide taking a group of us around the base of the canyon. Congratulations is well deserved.
    Great experience and adventure

I wasn't prepared for the hard slog up and down Kings Canyon, but I made it with lots of help from the lovely Michelle and Jess our tour guides. It was great to visit Kings Creek Station, would have liked more time there, but understand the time constraints as the walk at Kings Canyon takes up so much of the day, as well as the travel time to get there from Yalara. Beautiful outback country to see and I am so thankful we had such an experienced driver on board with Jenny, who avoided skillfully a big red who was crossing our path, just before sunrise. Could not fault the AAT Kings team on the day. We travelled on 11 May 2022.
    Waste of money

The entire walk although arduous for a 66 year old woman was certainly an experience not to be missed. We had the most wonderful guides. Michelle was exceptional with her knowledge of the region and she was so patient . Not to forget Rob the driver who was always in his best element/ funny and keeping the group in good spirits!!! Well done to all
