This activity will end right where it started.
Your full-day, small-group tour starts with morning pickup from your Avignon hotel. As you head out of town, admire the rare beauty of the sun cresting over endless fields of lavender in full bloom. Your first stop is one of Provence’s postcard-worthy villages. 

Depending on the blooms, you’ll disembark in Sault or Roussillon for some free time to explore. Wander narrow cobblestone streets and shop for heavenly lavender soaps, sachets, oils and honey. Visit an open-air market selling a colorful bounty of local produce. Put together a delicious self-catered lunch at the market or pop into a rustic café for a bite (own expense). 

After lunch, hop back in the minivan for a scenic westbound drive, passing the sweet Provençal villages of St Jean and Lioux en route to Gordes, one of France’s most gorgeous towns. Witness the simple beauty of the architecture which – under strict regulation – is composed almost exclusively of white stone with terra-cotta roofs. Then head to the medieval Sénanque Abbey –  situated in the middle of an sea of lavender – to take some great photos (stop only included from June 15 to July 15). 

Your final stop is the Lavender Museum in Coustellet. Here, learn more about lavender cultivation in Provence, see a distillation demonstration and discover the many versatile products created from the iconic Provençal flowers. Purchase some fragrant oils and cosmetics products before you leave.

Your 8.5-hour tour ends with drop-off at your Avignon hotel by evening.

The trip was really good. Everything is punctual as expected in the description. Our tour guide was nice and friendly. She gave good and interesting explanation about the Province area. The tour itself feels a little bit rushed. But this is okay since we also get to see a lot of places.

Was a very pleasant day. Visited a huge market to start the morning and then visited a lavender distillery which was average. We visited Gordes and another hilltop village which was lovely. Despite being a full day, I felt we could of had more time in the villages and the tour driver knowledge of the area and things in general seemed limited. We managed to see some lovely lavender fields even in late july. I would still recommend this tour to anyone as was a lovely day out.

The tour was pretty much exactly as promised, which was nice. However, I think better lavender fields (like Valensole) could be visited rather than the smaller ones they took us to. Really enjoyed Gorde, Roussillon and the lavender museum too. My tour was in both English and Chinese, despite booking an English tour. This was mostly fine, but did get a little distracting at times.

We have taken many Viator small group tours and have never been disappointed until now. The tour guide, Eve, was totally unprepared to provide any information about the sites on the tour. Her English was very weak and she did not even attempt to provide any narrative. The tour itself was poorly planned with insufficient time to visit the Senanque Abbey. No admissions to any of the sites were included in the tour price.

We were blessed with Remy as our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, helpful and very communicative and I would like to thank him for giving us an excellent day out! He went out of his way to be helpful, especially as we were doing the lavender tour right at the end of the season. We found lots of lavender fields in the hills as well as visiting the lavender museum an being fortunate to visit a lavender farm/distillery in action. The tour was well planned, allowing stops in Gordes, where we were able to explore the market as well as the village itself and another charming village, the name of which I have forgotten! There were lots of photo opportunities and Remy was kind enough to take some photos of his tourists, by request. This was the first time we had used Viator, and we were really pleased. After some initial hesitation about the cost, on my part, I felt that it was very good value for money on reflection. I will certainly be using Viator on all my future city breaks, and am very happy to give this tour in particular, and the tour guide himself, my highest recommendation.

I absolutely loved my full day Lavender sightseeing tour with Remy. He allowed a decent amount of time at both Gordes and Sault to look around the town, eat lunch and shop at the markets. We had plenty of opportunities to take photos. Make sure you try the Lavender ice cream!

We were in Provence at the very end of the lavender harvest so we missed the grand visual display but there were still lavender fields for us to stop and explore. We also made a stop at a farm to see the oil harvesting process in progress and had a chance to buy lavender oil direct from the producer which was much cheaper than it was in the Lavender museum which ended the tour. I could have done without the commercial Lavender museum ending. I didn't learn as much about the farming and processing of lavender as I did at the farm and I felt I was mostly there to be encouraged to spend money on overpriced items, yet I suppose that is a part of the economy of the region as well. Anyway, the majority of the tour was a delight and we were so glad we took it. Our guide was pleasant and informative as well.

This tour is best taken the Lavender is in full bloom. I can only imagine the country side filled with the beautiful purple flowers. There was still plenty of Lavendin to be seen. You have to take the tour to learn the difference between Lavender and Lavendin. Watching the distilling process of the Lavender was fascinating and the smells throughout the region was soothing and relaxing. Our guide Anais was the consummate professional and since she was born in the area her knowledge was unsurpassed.
