Insightful tour with an expert guide
, Jun 2022
Insightful tour of the main aspects of the Duomo complex. Our guide was a font of knowledge on the history, architecture and art. When we encountered a queue due to the late opening of the cathedral he provided extra commentary and then went over and above to give us a comprehensive museum experience even though we were out of time. Only slight irritation was that your ticket allows reentry to cathedral so you can see Santa Reparata in your own time, but the same is not true of the museum - you can only enter once. This means we left after the tour and ended up missing the detailed exhibition on the Cupola which we had planned to see in our own time. The Duomo staff in the museum weren't very helpful. You will get much more out of your visit with a guide and the skip the line entry was definitely worth it. The ceiling of the baptistry is absolutely amazing - especially when it's meaning is explained to you.
Succinct and informative

Excellent, highly knowledgable and personable guide. Excellent overview of essential Florentine historical sites
A "Must Do" in Florence
, Oct 2019
Visiting the Duomo and Baptistery is a "must do" in Florence. The small group tour is best because it gets crowded like all Italian attractions. Our tour guide was great and very informative. We were a little disappointed at the inside of the Duomo as it is very sparse compared to other Italian churches. This is understandable given it was a church for the common folks, but the beauty is clearly the outside architecture. The new museum is actually better than inside the Duomo itself. Note: take the stairs up the bell tower (campanile) for pictures of Florence and the Duomo dome. This makes a better picture than standing on the dome looking back at the bell tower. The tour ticket includes a preset reservation for walking up to the dome, which may not fit with your schedule. You have 72 hours to use your tour ticket to walk up the bell tower.

Our guide was very proud of her city, she was very knowledgeable of the history and culture of Florence. I would recommend taking the earliest tours, Florence is a city packed with tourists and St Marks is very crowded as the day progresses. Also pay extra for the small group tours, more personal. Take a few extra minutes to see below the Duomo, fascinating.
Well worth it

We loved Christian, the guide. Such a wealth of knowledge, so friendly. Obviously there is too much to see in full in a tour this length, but he gave a great selection.

Our tour guy was very knowledgeable. We got a lot of information and were able to skip the long lines. I would definitely recommend this tour. My 17 year old daughter really enjoyed it.

Our guide was a wealth of information, gave meaning to what we were looking at. We could not imagine going without a guide, as you would miss so much. The climb was not easy on a hot day but well worth it!!
Review of our Small-Group Florence Duomo Baptistery and Grande Museo del Duomo Tour
, Dec 2018
Our tour guide was Mauricio and he was FANTASTIC! He had to be a Florentine historian with how much information he knew. He was kind and had so much to share! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Great tour
, Sep 2018
Our tour group was small- only 5 of us so we were able to clearly hear and ask questions. There were no headphones. Our guide was very knowledgeable. She gave us lots of history about the Baptistry. The Grande Museo was amazing. On this tour you only get a taste of the Museo but since it ends inside you could spend more time there. We had a 1/2 until the Duomo climb. She was realistic in cautioning us about number of steps and height to climb but it is so worth it. The views are amazing both inside and out.
Almost Great

Our guide was very informative and handled the unanticipated very well. Unfortunately we could view everything due to an unexpected closure of the baptistery.

If you are adventurous and would like the best views of Florence you must climb the 463 steps to the top of the Duomo. Warning, it's very steep and narrow and will test your endurance. My hubby and I are in our 50's and we were huffing and puffing but finally made it. Worth it! Spectacular views from the top. We officially crossed this feat off our bucket list!

The guide was flighty and opinionated. Provided misinformation and lacked subject knowledge. We have booked with Viator in Italy several times previously and had far superior guide experiences with other excursions which were with other tour providers.

The tour of the Bapistry was fabulous, what a magic place and the guides description really added to the experience. Similarly the visit to the Duomo Museum was enhanced by cherry picking the best bits to see. If we hadnt gone on the tour we probably wouldnt have gone to the museum which would have been a mistake as the treasures there are amazing. Down side of the tour? We didnt go into the Duomo unless you decided to do the climb which we didnt. This wasnt obvious in the description of the tour. Also a bit too long, the Guide padded for the last 30 minutes.

Our guide explained so many details of the Baptistery that we would have missed had we been on our own. The Duomo is impressive. The climb to the top is not for people who do not like tight, narrow places. But, once there, is an amazing view.

Our tour guide was very nice but spent way too much time showing us where the entrances and exits were rather than info about the Duomo. She also spent way too much time giving us her thoughts on the plastic walls of the museum. Learned nothing. Waste of my $$$$.

We feel so fortunate to have chosen this tour. The experience was beyond excellent. It is a family run business, and they take so much pride in what they do. Our guide was Claudio and he was so knowledgeable and passionate! The small group made it a particularly intimate experience with plenty of time for viewing and asking questions. Claudio made it a point to explain the history and details in a way which was easy for us first timers to understand. The structures themselves left us breathless-so beautiful. My husband and son were also thrilled to have the chance to climb the dome not all tours allow this . I myself am afraid of heights so opted to admire the dome from afar, which to me was just as magnificent. Highly, Highly recommend this tour and thank you Claudio for an amazing experience
