What To Expect

Your tour begins in central Florence, where you meet up with your guide and participate in a brief safety overview before hitting the streets. Snap on your helmet and hop on your 24-speed bike, following your guide through the preserved Porta Romana gate, out of Florence.

Cycle up a 1-mile (2-km) hill, pausing to soak up the city views as you ascend. Pass the lavish villa near the top and hear the history behind the Florentine nobility whose former estates pepper the hills.

Continue through the quiet country roads, passing rolling vineyards and olive groves as you go. Learn insider facts about the region’s olive oil production from your guide as you travel.

Then treat yourself with a rest at a Renaissance villa and wine estate. The winemaker comes out to join you and provide a tour of the cellar where the villa’s wine is aged. Enjoy a tasting of vino and some traditional Tuscan snacks, including cheese, cold cuts, and bruschetta.

Climb back on your bike to continue through the area’s ancient villages, stopping to spy the former home of famous astronomer Galileo Galilei.

If you wish, top off the end of your bike tour with an Italian gelato (own expense) before parting ways with your guide.

This was such a great experience and were so glad we booked it. Not only did we get to taste delicious wine and olive oil, we also got to see a beautiful side of Florence that we wouldn’t have seen if not for this tour. Fun day biking around the outskirts of Florence

Cosimo, our tour guide, was fantastic! He took us on a trip to a winery within Florence’s city area with a tour of the winery and tastings, we biked up hills to see the beautiful city of Florence from many different viewpoints and he made the day fun, informative and one of the best days of our trip. He was able to adjust the tour based on our group’s interest and bike skill level, which we appreciated. We had an issue with one of the bikes (chain broke) but he was able to effectively provide a temporary fix until we were closer to the shop where he switched the bike out for a new one without affecting our enjoyment of the tour! We were three people and felt the trip was falsely advertised. We biked from florence city to a hillside hotel villa and vineyard. we walked around the hotel . We did not experience any wine or olive oil tasting , but rather had two glasses of wine with cheese, salami samples and olive oil was merely placed on table for bread. we never met any proprietors of the vineyard or olive oil - no understanding of what type of wine we had with lunch. at one point i had to ask our guide if we can see the bottle of what we were drinking to read a label. we got to view olive trees. we thought we would experience a true tuscan wine tasting adventure with more biking if you want to explore the backroads of florence to a hillside hotel villa, this is a good trip for you. really thought it was overpriced and would like to request some compensation / refund. it was not worth $95 usa .

Was a real treat .Our guide was very knowledgeable and made a good tour even better.Not too much in the way of exertion except the hill at the start but a great experience.We wound our way out the city and had lunch and a glass or 2 of vino in the cellar of a 700 year old villa on the top of a hill.Our guide was very patient and took I to account the varying skill levels of our 7 person group.The tour was worth every cent particularly after some of the more formalistic historical tours in Rome and Florence!

I loved this tour! I almost decided to cancel because the forecast called for rain but I am so glad I didn't. I didn't realize that in order to get to the Tuscan country side we had to ride a little bit on the roads of Florence, makes sense in retrospect but I didn't really think that through at first. I am not an avid biker nor am I in good shape at all but our guide, Bill, made sure everyone stayed safe on our ride, even the parts on the roads. There were a couple of hills that were rough but Bill reassured me that its ok to go slow and after each stretch or hill we took a break and he talked to us a little bit about our stopping point so I had time to catch my breath. He also gave us plenty of strategic stopping points for pictures. I loved biking through the countryside, it was truly beautiful! Villa Piazzole, where we stopped for our wine and cheese tasting, was wonderful. I got to learn about how they made wine and taste some of the wine and olive oil they make right there. It seemed very off the beaten path and private, it was nice to get away from the more crowded tourist areas. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Florence and would like a unique taste of what its like outside of the city, it was a truly enjoyable time!
