Beautiful Landmarks

Florence is beautiful. Our tour guide escorted us to the square and then had us meet her at another location and then seemed like we headed back closer to where we originally were dropped off, which was frustrating in the almost 100° heat. So that part of the tour didn’t seem to be very well planned. Once we arrived to Pisa our time was better spent and we were all blown away by the Leaning Tower of Pisa-it’s far more impressive than I ever expected from any of the photos I have seen.
What a difference a guide makes!

We met at appointed place. The guide was not wearing the blue T-shirt so was difficult to identify.
The guide Marchella gave very little information about our destinations, Florence and Pisa, her English was heavily accented so difficult to understand when she held up a copy of a tourist info map and vaguely pointed at where we would be dropped off and meet up.
When we arrived at Florence we were given headsets to listen to her non existent commentary. She set off walking at a very fast pace and several older members of the group had difficulty keeping up with her. We were frogmarched to the market for tasting...what of I never found out. She showed us the restaurant where her friend would give us discount and where she would be.
I Pisa a very similar story, although she did arrange for the little train to take us from the car park to the Tower. She recommended some of the vendors at the market. Again we got no information about the area, the tower, or anything else.
On the way back on the coach she spent the time taking selfies and posting on to social media.
I have never been on an excursion with so little information given, usually our local guides are so proud of their area you get too much info, my husband and I came away very dissapointed.
Great experience

Our bus driver was trustworthy in the scary Italian traffic. Our guide was bursting with knowledge and love for the region. It was quick quick quick. We ran through Florence and saw the major sites and enjoyed time at Pisa. I wish I could do a review of the rest of our group because they held us up but our guide was wonderfully patient and kind with them anyway.
Excellent Guides and Good Value

Weather dreadful, but that didn't diminish the enthusiasm of our 2 guides for the day. They were very well informed, spoke very good English and the tour was very good value compared with those on offer on the cruise boat. We had to take the ship's shuttle bus to the meeting point but on the return trip, we were returned to the ship itself. A full day in Florence and Pisa - worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Rainy Day but Great Excursion.

The excursion all in all was very nice. The rainy day didnt slow us down only other people on the excursion showing up late (or not at all) to the meeting points. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and gave great information. The tasting was below average imo but the wine was tasty. We had about 2 hours to explore Florence and then to head back to the Bus and make our way to Pisa. More time in Florence would of been great but we expected it as it is a shared tour with time constraints. Pisa we paid for a train to the tower and had about 20-30 mins to explore before we had to make our way back and getting on train and heading back to bus and the ship. on each meeting point a grp was late but the guides were excellent getting us to the ship on time.

Alice was our guide and Ricardo our bus driver.
Both were excellent. You would be lucky to get Alice as your tour guide. My mother had a medical problem on the bus and Alice had presence of mind to get her a bag of ice, called ahead to the ship and ordered a wheelchair.. never seemed to mind the problems we had and accommodated my elderly mother and aunt nicely.
Not the best, just ok

My wife and I did this tour from the cruise ship terminal on Sept 5, 2019. There were a lot of issues though:
1. There were TONS of people that signed up for this same tour. But most everyone spoke either English or Spanish. Why not separate them so we don't have to hear each other's language (and thus EVERYTHING twice?!). It got really annoying after a while. It ended up being a lot of wasted time we could have been learning more from the guide talking about things on the ride up, and while there.
2. Not much time! The logistics of this tour could have been faster/smoother. By the time you get wait for one of the first buses from the cruise ship terminal (which is a separate fee), to go to the area of town for the main buses, it takes a long time. Then there is a long ride out to Florence (there was also an accident on the main freeway route, so it was another hour to go a different way). So we only had 2 hours of free time in the city. Next time, I would consider just taking the train there instead.
3. The tasting was at a restaurant (with only one bathroom). When we got there, we could see all our small plates ready in the kitchen. But then it still took over 20 minutes for them to start serving it. Then they didn't even tell us what we were eating. It was good...whatever it was!
4. The tour guide kept telling us in a (joking way) to put a great review of the tour on-line. But then she kept repeating it, also handing out papers to a link to their Facebook page. Now it was starting to look pushy and desperate...jesh..stop!
On the plus side: The time in Pisa was about an hour, which is about right. There isn't much else except for the leaning tower. There is (slow) wi-fi on the bus, although they didn't even tell us until the way back.

A Good Sightseeing Tour

This was a very good tour with plenty of time to visit Florence and a chance to see the Leaning Tower in Pisa. Alice was very organized and very informative of the history and what was happening. She did a great job keeping track of everyone and got us back to our ship in plenty of time. The only thing I would caution is there really isn't much of a tasting. The portions of food were okay but the wine was barely a swallow, hardly enough to even tell what you were drinking. Overall a good way to sample the two cities.
Great day

NOT a guided tour!

First of all, let me say that every person on the bus had the same impression I did about what this tour entailed. That is, a guide taking you round the sights of Florence and Pisa, with those little headsets on so that you can hear them properly, and giving you information about what you're seeing. That's NOT what this tour is, despite the fact that it says it's fully guided!
When we disembarked at Florence, we had to take a port bus to the meeting point, which cost 5 Euros for a return journey. The bus dropped us off right at the meeting point, and the guides were clearly visible. We did have to wait around 40 minutes because one of the guests was late, which of course meant we had 40 minutes less in Florence!
On the coach, we were given some information about Florence but I have to admit that it was hard to stay awake for this. I had expected the coach journey to be around an hour, but it took 1 hour and 40 minutes.
When we arrived in Florence, we had to walk about 20 minutes to the starting point. Apparently this is because the coaches can't stop anywhere right in the centre. I'd therefore suggest you consider a small group tour as the smaller buses can then take you in closer.
The itinerary had said we'd have a tasting of a cookie in the market after doing the city tour. However, we did the tasting first, and instead of the market, we went to a small restaurant. They considered this an upgrade as instead of just a cookie, you got to taste Tuscan red wine and 2 small dishes (Pappa Al Pomodoro and Panzanella). I didn't consider this an upgrade though as I'd wanted to see the market and I don't drink wine!
The guide then took us to the meeting point, just outside the duomo. He told us we had 2 hours to explore and he'd meet us back there. As lots of people had complained about the fact it should be guided, he did take people around some key sights. However, as he wasn't expecting to do this, he wasn't prepared with information, and without the headsets, I couldn't hear him. We therefore decided to just explore on our own.
I can't give you the detail of what we did because there aren't enough characters allowed, but you won't be able to go inside any buildings or museums as you don't have enough time given the long queues.
It was a 20 minute walk back to the bus, then a 1hr 20min drive to Pisa, followed by 15 min walk. Again, you don't have enough time to go into buildings/climb the tower really.

In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
