This activity will end right where it started.Take the shuttle provided by the port of Livorno to COACH PARKING (the "scambiatore") which is a few minutes' ride inside the port. Do NOT take a shuttle to the city center, pay directly on the spot 5 euro for the ride. Please allow at least 15 minutes from the time you disembark to get to coach parking as the number of shuttles can be limited.
When your cruise ship docks at the port of Livorno, meet your guide and step aboard your transport for the journey to Pisa. After a stop at Piazza dei Miracoli to see the city’s three key sights: the UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Duomo, and Baptistery. Make the most of your free time here to sightsee independently, and perhaps strike a pose for the perfect photo by the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Proceed to Florence, passing through stretches of scenic Italian terrain, arrive in the Tuscan capital for your tour.

Admire the Renaissance architecture that flanks the picture-perfect streets, and stretch your legs on a stroll around Piazza del Duomo. The square is home to Florence Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori, so turn your attention to its colorful marble exterior and its crowning glory: the terracotta cupola, Brunelleschi's Dome. Learn how the iconic cupola was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, a 13th-century architect, and took some 170 years to complete.

Your next stop is Piazza dell Signoria, home to a copy of 'David,' the celebrated statue by Michelangelo. Amble through Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air area of sculptures to see examples of Florentine art in the great outdoors.

Walk onward to the Ponte Vecchio, the age-old bridge that has become of the city’s most iconic sights. Pose for photos, and then stop by the strikingly beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce.

Lunch at your own expense in Florence.

In the afternoon, return to your vehicle for the ride back to port.

Worry-Free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Livorno port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. Itinerary
Pass By:
Livorno
Meet your guide or driver at coach parking/bus terminal (the "scambiatore") and depart for Pisa and Florence.
Stop At:
Piazzale Michelangelo
This plaza, high above the city and dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, gives the viewer a breathtaking panorama of Florence and is the perfect way to start your visit. You will get a birds-eye view of all the famous landmarks -- the Arno riiver traversed by Ponte Vecchio, the splendid duomo dominating the cityscape, the church of Santa Croce, the Medieval tower of Palazzo Vecchio, In the centre of the piazza is a bronze copy Michelangelo's masterpiece, the colossal sculpture of David, surrounded by copies of the four allegories from the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo.

Stop At:
Basilica of Santa Croce
Santa Croce is perhaps best known for who is buried there -- its interred include such illustrious figures as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, and Rossini. The basilica, which is the largest Franciscan church in the world, is also known for the frescoes that decorate its many chapels. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the church is the gigantic star of David adorning the facade. The neo-Gothic restyling was undertaken around 1860, with Jewish architect Niccolò Matas in charge of the design. Matas had wanted to be buried in the cemetery of Santa Croce with his distinguished peers, but, because of his faith, his body was laid to rest instead under the entryway to the church.

Stop At:
Duomo - Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore
The very heart of Florence is found at Piazza del Duomo -- Cathedral Square. Here you can view the spectacular Duomo, the Baptistry, and Giotto's Bell Tower in their delicious hues of sage green, white, and dusky pink. The sheer magnitude of the cathedral is sure to amaze you, as is the beauty of Brunelleschi's cupola, the dome that is yet a testament to the engineering genius of the architect and the daring patronage of the Medici family.

Stop At:
Piazza della Repubblica
Piazza della Repubblica today is filled with chic terraces, sumptuously decorated cafès, upscale hotels and shopping, and a glittering merry-go-round -- a far cry from its two centuries as the Jewish ghetto that started in the mid-1500s. The spot is a bustling pedestrian crossroads of the city, recalling its ancient origins as the site of the Roman forum.

Stop At:
Piazza della Signoria
Piazza della Signoria was and still is the center of Florentine life. The handsome plaza, with Palazzo Vecchio as its focal point, is a striking presentation of the city's Medieval and Renaissance past. In the center of the piazza is a plaque commemorating the execution of Savonarola after his brief reign of cultural desecration in the late 15th Century, and to the side, in brilliant juxtaposition, the loggia containing an assembly of sculptural masterpieces by some of the most celebrated artists of the Renaissance. Passing between Palazzo Vecchio and the loggia, you enter into the courtyard of the Uffizi gallery, where 44 rooms house a priceless collection of paintings and sculpture by such masters as Cimabue, Giotto, Botticelli, Raphael, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Titian, and Leonardo Da Vinci.

Stop At:
Ponte Vecchio
Ponte Vecchio is truly the poster boy of Florence. Now famous for its pricey gold shops, the "Old Bridge" was the only bridge across the Arno in Florence not destroyed by the Nazi's during WWII. The shimmering shops on Ponte Vecchio today are a vast contrast to the butcher shops of its origins, but it is undoubtedly one of the most iconic images of the city.

Stop At:
Piazza dei Miracoli
Our stop in Pisa is Campo dei Miracoli, which literally means "Field of Miracles" in Italian, but to tourists it basically means "the Leaning Tower"! The beautiful bell tower, which had already begun leaning by the time builders got to the third storey in 1178, is today appreciated more for the fact that it is about 15 feet off perpendicular than for its aesthetic qualities. But speaking of aesthetic qualities -- all the monuments on the Field of Miracles are splendid examples of Romanesque architecture (according to towerofpisa.org, the Campo dei Miracoli is "the most splendiferous assemblage of Romanesque architecture in Italy.") You'll have time to admire the hulking cathedral, the almost-Islamic baptistery, and the graceful cemetery in addition to taking creative pictures of your friends "holding up" the Leaning Tower.

Stop At:
Leaning Tower of Pisa
The bell tower of the cathedral of Pisa is known to visitors as simply "the Leaning Tower of Pisa." It is by far the most famous of all the magnificent structures on the Field of Miracles. After a feat of engineering in recent years that prevented the tower from toppling over, the world's most famous inclining monument can be enjoyed from the ground or by climbing the 250 steps to the top, where you'll get amazing views of the surrounding countryside.

Pisa and Florence tour

Marco was an excellent tour guide, he was very informative, jovial and made the day one to remember. The tour content was good and as described and we had plenty of free time to wander round at both venues. The size of the tour was fine and the size of bus limited the walking to and from the bus. Overall a memorable tour made more so be Marco and the driver.

We enjoyed this tour very much and were quite impressed with our tour guide Stephania who was very knowledgeable being from Florence. She had a great sense of humour and she kept the group well organized. Learned from that Canada was actually the producer of Genoa salami We started at Pisa in the morning to avoid the larger crowds arriving later. We were given about an hour to go around the Pisa square etc.,as well as walk down adjoining streets. We continued late morning to Florence and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk through the streets of Florence seeing the amazing architecture and sculptures. We also had time to dine on our own at the Galleria which had many fine shops and small vendors. A future trip to stay longer in Florence would be suggested to see more of this beautiful city.

Great tour!

Stefania was our guide and she was a total champion. Her knowledge and passion for the region was on display. We learned so much about Tuscany, Pisa, and Florence, and had such a great time in the process! One of our other guides made a comment that telling stories and sharing knowledge is the easy part of a tour, and that keeping track of everyone is the real challenge. That is very true and I admire and appreciate how determined and organized Stefania was! We got a late start when a couple arrived almost an hour after our scheduled start time, claiming they were prevented from disembarking from our ship (they were consistently late/got lost/disappeared all day so it's more likely they just got a late start and told a lame lie instead of being adults about it), but Stefania promised she would have us back to our ship in time, and she did! Also, when the aforementioned couple disappeared on our way to our bus in Pisa, it was pouring rain and Stefania walked back and managed to find them so we could get on our way to Florence. She went above and beyond to keep everyone together. Thank you Stefania, it was a pleasure spending the day with you!

Stephanie our tour guide was AMAZING on Sept 19, 2019. She made everyone feel like she was giving them a private personal tour. She remembered names, answered every question, had great insight on what to do, gave us enough time and was one of the best tour guides I've every had. I was in a group of ten and we LOVED her and everyone wants to recommend her again and again.

A great day with Katia in Florence and Pisa
KALIEJH_C
, Sep 2019
This was the first stop on our cruise and was our daughter's birthday. She had been wanting to go to Florence for a long time and the tour did not disappoint. From the very beginning of the tour, things were very well organized. The company had representatives at the ship to direct us to the correct shuttle bus to reach our tour guide (much less stressful meeting point than some of our other tours). Our tour guide was Katia and she was fantastic! The tour group consisted of about 25 people and she did a great job managing the large group, making it feel much smaller and intimate. She provided incredible insight into Italian history and culture during the bus ride to both Pisa and Florence, making the time go by quickly. She was very well organized, utilizing headsets so that everyone could hear her as we toured the busy streets of Pisa and Florence. I appreciated that she gave us as much free time as she could in each location and made great recommendations for lunch, gelato, and shopping in Florence! Definitely a tour we would highly recommend!
