What To Expect
Start your day trip to Lake Como with a hotel pickup. Then travel north, away from Milan, to the Italian Lakes.
One of the largest lakes in Europe, Lake Como is also one of the most spectacular, set against a mountainous hinterland.
Stop to explore the lake’s main town of Como, and check out two of its historical attractions. Head inside the 11th-century Basilica di Sant’Abbondio, then visit the extravagant neoclassical Villa Olmo. Afterward, head into the historical center of Como to enjoy some free time.
Meet back up with your guide a little later, and set out on a cruise of the lake. Gaze at the plush villas that line the lake’s banks, and admire the decadence of Villa d’Este in Cernobbio; it’s a high-end hotel set amid tropical gardens.
Step back onto dry land at Bellagio, and enjoy some time at your leisure to explore. Wander the steep alleyways that lead up from the lake, and perhaps grab a gelato or coffee (own expense) in one of the town’s cafes.
Later, cruise to Cadenabbia, then board your coach for the journey back to Milan. Your day trip ends with a drop-off between Via Cusani and Largo Cairoli.

Great Tour

This is a great tour to lake Como and Bellagio. We got picked up from our hotel and dropped off at the Agency where we checked in. They gave us the set (ear phone, and the tag you can wear on your neck so they know you belong to the group tour). Make sure you bring the ticket confirmation for faster check in.
It was hot in Milan on August 29th but the tour was cool. You will get the breeze from the boat tour on the lake.

tour guide screwed up!!

This was absolutely the worse, tour I have ever taken. The weather dampened the boat ride to bellagioand instead of offering an alternative, the guide just said do whatever for the next 4 hrs, then come back. We should have been taken to the bellagio by bus! There was several things he could do.
Then he proceeded to tell us if you leave give me your whispers! One guy was trying to decide what to do, and the guide jerked it off of him, the guide began to push the tourist and it got very heated. This disrupted the entire tour group. I have never been so disappointed in my travel time. I have traveled a lot. This was horrible. It ruined Lake Como for us. I would like to know how I could get part of my money back since we did not get to do the entire thing?? Get a new tour guide!!!

Beautiful day trip - well worth it!

My husband and I only had 2 and 1/2 days in Milan but we had heard great things about Lake Como and decided to book a day trip. We were at the tail end of our 2 week travels and could not have asked for a better day trip. A van comes to your hotel and picks you up first thing in the morning, and then you rendezvous with about 30 other people and hop on a bus with a tour guide and get on your way to Lake Como. The guide points out some great things about Milan as you head to the highway, but then you just enjoy the scenery as you head out. Then as you hit Lake Como it is the most breathtaking views ever. You only have about an hour and a half to explore and we decided to venture off from the group and do our own thing and meet back at the specified time and spot. We then hopped on a boat for a 2 hour boat ride to Bellagio and that was by far, the best part. I will always reflect back on how extremely beautiful this part of the tour was. We hope to one day come back and do it on our one and stay in one of the gorgeous hotels we saw.

Guide's mike did not work and everyone on tour complained and even though she tried to make adjustments the static was on going. Cruise around Lake Como is not a private boat ride but on a public boat that has many, many stops. Guide tells us to sit on top on right side of boat but as our group is the last one in line, there are no sits available. Then we must try to sit for two hours in the hot sun....after trying and hoping for improvement we left half way through and took the train back to Milan. This was not a guided tour of anything...we could have taken the train to Lake Como and back if we really wanted to enjoy our vacation.

Full day tour. Not physically demanding at all in sense of lots of walking and/or climbing but a full day is a full day and I mean that. About 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Water tour of Lake Como excellent.
Guide was knowledgeable and full of juicy gossip on the celebrity locals like George Clooney, etc. Entertaining. The right amount of time in Bellagio and the town of Como.

This was a fun trip, but there were just a few small things I would change. The local tour group in Milan that was used by Viator is called Zani Viaggi. They picked us up at our hotel and dropped us at the tour office one hour before the tour was to begin, with no employee being present and the office not yet open for the day. That left us, and others, just standing on a street corner for an hour with nothing to do and no where to sit until an employee showed up to let us on a parked bus. Our guide, Serena, was very knowledgeable with very good english. Be aware that the tour company Zani Viaggi has problems with their headsets. I took three tours with them on this trip and the issue was the same each trip. If you are not standing on top of your guide you cannot hear anything. The trip itself was wonderful, Lake Como and Bellagio are gorgeous. The boat ride was very picturesque, although it should be noted that this is a public boat, so there are crowds and jockeying for seats. It was a very enjoyable day and I would recommend it.

Despite the fact that this trip descended into torrential downpours once we boarded the boat at Lake Como this was a wonderful trip. Our guide was very informative and the stop in Bellagio included what our grandson described as the best pizza he ever had at the Pizzeria Carillon across from the ferry doc. If we could have such a great time on a cold rainy day imagine what this trip would be in the sun.

This was a fabulous day! a really good tour guide who was very informative and the most amazing scenery.
A long day but worth the visit.
The only down side was a pick up from the hotel didnt include a drop off, which a lot of us had missed.
The bus driver that picked us up from the hotel was very unpleasant, luckily he was only the hotel pick up.

The Best Western Location pick up location should be avoided. It appears, if you are not a guest at the Best Western, you have to wait outside the hotel only. The Best Western crew were NOT at all helpful... they were very rude when we inquired about the pick up and if we can wait in the lobby area of the hotel.
The tour was ok. Our english speaking tour guide was ok. She explained very little of the Lake Como history.
The tour only included hotel pickup and does not include hotel drop off. You have to find your way back to your hotel once the bus drops you off at the tour offices in Central Milan.

This is a long day and could possibly be shortened by less free time in either Como or Bellagio or both. The boat tour was wonderful and the highlight, however, the group was too big despite the fact there were multiple guides catering for different languages which made getting on and off the boat a long process.
Unfortunately it was not sunny, but...

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
