    Inside, begin below ground to explore the Colosseum’s tunnels, chambers and pits. This section of the amphitheater is only open to a select number of visitors each day, so enjoy this exclusive chance to see more than most people do. While you walk through the underground passageways, listen to stories about the wild animals who were held down here and the Roman gladiators who prepared for their battles here.  

    Upon exiting the Colosseum, walk with your guide over to the Roman Forum, once the political heart of the city. Take in the sprawl of ancient ruins, and walk up Palatine Hill, once home to Ancient Rome’s wealthy residents, for a view of Circus Maximus, where chariot races took place. Your tour ends on Via Sacra, the main street of Ancient Rome that links the Colosseum to Capitoline Hill.

    City Wonder called the day before our tour to move it up 2 hours, annoying, but ok I get it. We change our day around and make it over in time for the tour and when we get there they say they’re sorry but they have to cancel our tour and didn’t have time to call in the morning. The man in charge was also extremely rude and had no sympathy for the trouble they caused. I will never use city wonders again.

    If it was posible to leave a 0 or no “stars” this company/tour would deserve it. We booked this tour months ago and we were super exited to experience the Colosseum to the fullest. However that was not the case. Fist of all, our original tour time was moved from 3pm to 10am, with little to no explanation; a bit unusual but understandable. Once we arrived at the meeting point at 10am we discovered the true colors of this operation. It was complete chaos, there were 3 different tour groups re-scheduled of the same time. Our group from 3pm, one from 9am and one from 10am… To cut the story short while I tried to talk to the representative from the company to understand what had happened and to see how we could get our money back (I had no luck, he just kept ignoring me), my wife was able to get us another tour with Crown Tours … Again this was a terrible, terrible experience I strongly advise not to use this company. The person that was dealing with the “group organization” or trying should I say, announced by screaming to the crowd that the underground tour would not be happing to to them being short of guides. Once people started complaining he mentioned that it was possible to cancel and get a full or partial refund. We are very glad to were able to do the tour with the other company which was very organized, quick to assist and offered us a lovely guide and we were in a group of 7, if we stayed with the original tour there would have been 17 people (also not what we paid for). Please refund us asap

    Terrible instructions on where to meet for someone who doesn’t know the area! We were there in plenty of time but since the directions were so obscure and no one on the phone from city wonders gave me real directions, we were running around and they left without us. We found our tour on the way but hadn’t even gotten near the entrance but they wouldn’t let us join. So frustrating and such a waste of money. When we tried to rebook with Viator, they said city wonders would not do that or refund. So they both suck. Luckily we found the guys the the purple shirts who have us a great tour, although we are out the $180+ we already paid. So frustrating.

    Stay away! The directions to the meet were terrible. We arrived at 11:17 and could not find the tour guide. Called both City Wonders and Viator and neither were of any help. Viator kept saying to go to the City Wonders office. There isn’t one there. It’s a round open area above a closed Metro station. Ran into a CW guide, no attempt to help either. In short, we missed the tour. Will never do business with either again.
