Between Hotel Alimandi and Caffé Vaticano, at the top of the big staircase (Viale Vaticano, 100). A representative will be there holding a sign with our company name on it. We highly recommend that you arrive 10 - 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting time of your tour to ensure a prompt start. • Subway/Metro - Take the Metro line A (the red line) and get off at either the “Cipro” or “Ottaviano” stop. The meeting point is on Viale Vaticano which is a 10-minute walk from each of the metro stops. • Walking - From St. Peter’s Square, take via di Porta Angelica and follow the Vatican walls (on your left-hand side) closely until you reach Piazza del Risorgimento. Turn left and continue following the Vatican walls until you reach Viale Vaticano. Turn left onto Viale Vaticano and cross over to the other side of the street. Walk up the street and you’ll find our meeting point about 100 feet away. BEWARE! This is at least a 15-minute walk. • Taxi - It is very important that you tell the driver “Caffè Vaticano” or Musei Vaticani. Our meeting point is a few feet away. Make sure you check for us on the other side of the street just in case your driver drops you off opposite the caffè. • Use your smartphone! - Type the words ‘Caffè Vaticano’ into your phone’s navigation system and the directions will bring you just a few feet away from the top of the staircase!

If you want to see St.Peters within a package tour do not buy this one.

Very disappointed. This tour was supposed to include skip the line guided tour to St Peters, however we were told that it would not be included with little to no explanation. We were not made aware until we were already inside Vatican Museum. False advertising for sure.

Many thanks for writing us a review. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the skip the line passage between the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica is currently closed. For this reason, and in order to enhance the quality of the experience, until the passage reopens, we have decided to include other sections of the Museums instead, since, the Basilica is free to visit and on this tour people have a professional official guide at disposal for 5 hours, whose use should be maximised. All our guides are instructed to provide you with relevant information so that you will know what to look out for whilst visiting the Basilica on your own. This information is clearly stated on our website and was communicated to all our distributors, so they could update their websites as well, so we have to disagree with your claim of false advertising. This itinerary is designed to avoid a 20 minutes walk to the Basilica and to avoid having to stand for an unpredictable amount of time in a queue, wasting the time you have paid your guide for, which can be used to enjoy other remarkable parts of the Vatican Museums. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed. The key to this tour was getting started early. Our small group tour was first in to see the Sistine Chaple. As the day progresses the Vatican becomes quite crowded. It is a tour that requires you to be on your feet for 4-5 hours so come prepared.

Looking forward to this tour for YEARS, so I booked privileged entrance, 5 hour extended tour @ 0730. It was July 2019. We waited in line for 1/2 hr until the Vatican opened. A huge rush of people with a HUGE line began to form inside while our guide obtained our tickets. She was lovely. We had moments where the rooms were 3/4 full of people but then by the time we reached the Sistine Chapel it was cram packed, not a seat to sit and marvel. By that time the air in the vast hallways became thin and HOT. Crowds of people were boarded through the museums. Anxiety settling in as there were no exits, just sweaty people bumping into you. Approximately 1 out of 5 rooms had minimal air conditioning. Ashamed that the Pope allowed this many people to visit this cherished and precious place at one time. Our group barely made it to 1/2 of the museums and did not get to go to St Peters Basilica because our tour was over 5 hrs at the time and there was a line over 1.5 hours to get into. Also, the rooms we were able to visit, one could not move around in to see the artifacts and admire the paintings. Such sadness. Did I mention it was 95F out? Just a miserable experience. Waist of money.

If you like to sleep late this tour is not for you. But, if you are willing to sacrifice some shut eye to experience the Vatican Museum - and especially the Sistine Chapel- without crowds of people, then I highly recommend the Detailed Itinerary Tour. Our guide, Francesco, was extremely knowledgeable and helped our group to navigate through the museum- outmaneuvering many of the other early morning tours so that we had many of the rooms all to ourselves. I would definitely recommend this tour.
