A resort town for Rome's rich and famous for over 2,000 years, Tivoli is today a fascinating refuge for anyone interested in history and culture. This guided day trip from Rome transports you to Tivoli on a comfortable air-conditioned bus and deposits you smack in the center of thousands of years of history.

Take a guided walking tour of Hadrian's Villa, a lavish palace where the Roman emperor officially moved in AD 128. Marvel at the ruins of temples and theaters, swimming pools and steam rooms. With a guide at your side, learn about what daily life at the villa was like nearly 2,000 years ago.

After touring the ancient estate, indulge in a delicious Roman lunch at a local restaurant and then get acquainted with the opulent Villa d'Este, an erstwhile Benedictine convent that was turned into a Renaissance palace by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, son of Lucrezia Borgia. Wander through the palace's verdant, highly manicured gardens and take delight in the famed Fountain of Neptune.

After touring the villa, hop back on the bus for the return back to Rome.

A very well organised trip . The guide was very entertaining and informative . It wasn't a long journey and well worth the effort to see the villas and fantastic gardens . Lunch was at a local family owned restaurant serving home cooked food . Strongly recommend this trip .

Our tour guide Carolina was absolutely amazing. She knew so much and considered us at every moment. You could tell she enjoyed her job and was excited to share her knowledge with us. Our tour group was 5 total, so it was nice to have interactions with her. It was a more intimate experience. The villas were breathtaking. I cannot wait to visit again.

Excellent tour (not cvoid safe)

Great trip but don’t book if worried about Covid. I’ll start by saying the tour guide and the trip itself was great. The gardens are stunning and pick up and drop off was smooth. Villa Adriana is huge and the tour showed all the main parts. The issue we had was the information stated social distancing present yet lunch was everyone bundled inside in a restaurant side by side then the place itself was full. This was not a safe experience for us and defeated the point of people wearing masks on the bus. We fully expected lunch to be outside for safety. The guide was very knowledgable and explained the places very well.

Hello, Thank you so much for your review for the Tivoli Day Trip from Rome with Lunch Including Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este. During the winter months the lunch at the restaurant has been organized inside as oftern the weather during winter changes very quickly. As spring and better weather arrives the restaurant has also tables outside. I am glad that you enjoyed the tour itself and that you found the guide informative. Thank you for your review! Kind regards, Rome Your Way Tours

This tour was excellent. Inger was an awesome guide, Massimo an excellent driver. And, the rest of our small group was fun to spend the day with. I have wanted to see these sights for several years and was not disappointed in this top-notch experience. Lunch was great too. Several delicious appetizers, water, wine, pasta, and delicious homemade cookies for dessert. They even accommodated my special diet. Thank you, Rome Your Way tours! I will book again!

Great day trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. Both sites were worth seeing and the tour guide helped the ruins come alive. And, the fountains at villa d’este were so beautiful. Definitely go!

Break from Rome Hustle

It was a beautiful day despite the showers. The Villas Adriana and d'Este were both respite from the busyness of the city. Our guide Elida was knowledgeable and amiable and took us to a delicious lunch between the places. The water features at Villa d"Este are spectacular, and I think I'll remember them more fondly than the ones at Versailles. It also surprises how the drivers maneuver through lanes with almost no clearance. Hats off to all of them and the incredibly hard-working guides.

Informative Guide -
Theresa B
, Sep 2019
Our guide was amazing. She was so informative, explained everything so well, and answered any questions with ease. It was a warm day, and she made sure we always stopped in the shade when she talked and pointed out spots to get water. The pace of her tour was perfect as well--not too fast or slow. One of the extras she did was carry a book that showed the ruins today and then you could flip a page and see the area "back in the day." These books are for sale at many souvenir shops and stands, but it was really helpful and informative how she incorporated the pictures with her tour. She also carried and used other visual aides throughout the tour. Our lunch was quite pleasant (although some confusion that dessert was not included in the ticket price by some group members) and there was a perfect amount of free time. We did multiple tours on our trip, and this tour also had the best headsets and the group was not too large. It took all the stress out of the tour because transportation was included. I would not see Hadrian's Villa without a guide--she brought it to life and I think without the tour, it would have just been a pile of rocks.
