Board your luxury coach, and travel from Rome to Tuscany with its scenic, rolling hills. Your first stop is Montepulciano, a town renowned for its fine wine and views. The Renaissance hilltown is best-known for its production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a full-bodied red wine. Learn about it on a walking tour, and discover highlights such as the Florence-style clock tower, the cathedral with its yet-to-be-finished façade, medieval wine cellars, and the old town walls.

After a break for photos, travel further into Tuscany to explore the area around Montalcino. Step inside Sant’ Antimo Abbey, and then soak up the vistas that stretch beyond the vineyards.

Hear how the local vineyards produce the acclaimed Brunello di Montepulciano wine, and then sample a glass for yourself over a 3-course lunch at a local farm. In traditional Tuscan style, the menu features fresh farm-grown produce as well as a selection of local wine.

From the farm, travel on to Pienza, one of the region’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here, enjoy free time to explore. The layout of the town was created by Pope Pius II, who wanted to change the look of his birth town. Admire the historic center, which stays true to the pope’s vision, and gaze at the fine architecture that abounds. If you are a fan of food, check the shops for pecorino cheese, arguably Pienza’s most prized product.

Your day trip finishes with your coach journey back from Tuscany to Rome.

Emilo, (not sure I’m spelling this right but exgirl friend was Swedish) was absolutely the best tour guide of our 4 excursions. Funny, considerate and made you feel at ease from the very first minute. Tuscany was beautiful and the food at the farm house was authentic and Devine. 5 stars for sure!!

The countryside was very beautiful. The guide gave us information from a personal perspective along with historical facts. The winery was fantastic. The luncheon was four stars. I bought three bottles of the five-year aged wine. I should have had them shipped, but it all worked out. Yesterday I found wine from their winery in my local Total Wine. That was exciting because I can buy more and celebrate the whole experience.

Would highly recommend this tour if you've seen enough of Rome or wanting to go outside Rome. A great way to spend time enjoying Tuscany's landscape and beautiful scenery. Do expect quite some time in the bus for the trip but it's worth it. Our guide John was very knowledgeable and very helpful in sharing the must and go to places as well as which one to avoid.

Excellent tour and a must do day trip from Rome! Our guide (name started with an E) was great and provided a few laughs plus recommendations at the end of the tour. Lunch was excellent as well as the visit to the cute towns along the way.

the seats on the bus are not meant for tall or slightly overweight to very fluffy people, therefore it was a very uncomfortable ride for several hours. the food that you get to have for lunch is not very good. when you get to the first stop the do not give you audio headphones therefore you can't here the guide and don't know what she is saying half the time. you are walking uphill for half the tour at the first stop and you only get 15 minutes to shop at christmas market and no other time to wander freely. you feel like you are having a timed forced march during entire tour to "stay on schedule". this was not an enjoyable tour of tuscany.

Francesco was wonderful, kind, warm, and knowledgeable. However the stop at the factory to eat on the way down and shop on the way back felt like a pressure trap to spend money. The first town we stopped at Montepulciano (I butchered the spelling) was CHARMING, like a Disney movie! We had about 15 minutes of free time and I went to shop but was told to wait until Pienza (the 3rd and final city) as they had the same things for less money....they did not. The town was all but closed with just food shops open. I missed out on the most adorable espresso cups and the cutesy jewelry and house decor.....SO regret not buying despite his instructions. The wine tasting was more of a lunch with three free glasses of wine, we were just told the names, no information, but lunch was good. Pienza was beautiful but again all but closed, hard to spend 40 minutes there. Overall, I am glad we met Francesco but I wouldn't call it a wine tasting and I'd skip Pienza in winter on a weekday and offer more time in Montepulciano with the ADORABLE city and PLENTUFUL open shops!!!

Good tour

The tour of Montepulciano was excellent and lunch at the winery was amazing. I was very lucky m pressed with the selection of wines and I am not easy to please. The only suggestion I would have for this tour is to allow some free time in Montepulciano, even 20 mins would go a long way. Also, For a winter tour it would make sense to notify tourists that it is a few degrees colder in the mountains. The bus should also have a heater on, without asking.

Great tour and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Was able to see 2 cities in Tuscany I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Also the wine tasting was amazing, some of the best wine I ever had.
