At the bottom of the wide steps across the street from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. The steps are located between Caffè Vaticano and Hotel Alimandi Vaticano, on the corner of Viale Vaticano and Via Tunisi. Our City Wonders coordinators will be wearing blue City Wonders/Guideman polo shirts or jackets for easy recognition. The closest metro stop is on line A (red line): Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani. Arriving from Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani metro A station: When you step off the metro, exit the turnstiles, walk straight to the back of the station and go to the left-side exit. Once you've reached the left-side exit, go out on the side marked V.le Giulio Cesare (to your right). Leave the station and walk straight (west) down Viale Giulio Cesare (which turns into Via Candia) for 3 ½ blocks, crossing three junctions (1. Via Vespiano 2. Via Leona IV and 3. Via Santamaura) before getting to Via Tunisi, the fourth junction. Turn left down Via Tunisi and walk straight for a block. In front of you will be a set of wide steps with a handrail running down the center. Your meeting point is at the BOTTOM of these steps. In total, the walk from the metro station to the meeting point should take around 10 – 15 minutes. Arriving from St. Peter's Square: Facing St. Peter's Basilica from the center of piazza (near the obelisk), turn right (north) and exit the piazza through the columns. Follow the Vatican walls (which will always be on your left side) all the way around to the entrance of the Vatican Museums (the entrance is on the left as you go uphill on Viale Vaticano.) This walk should take around 15 – 20 minutes.

7:30 AM
St. Peter's Basilica , Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
In the early morning, meet your guide at the Vatican Museums before the site opens to the public. Depending on the option selected when booking, you’ll be escorted to either the Pinecone Courtyard or the Vatican cafeteria for breakfast, followed by your exclusive tour of the Vatican’s many iconic attractions, from the Sistine Chapel to the Gallery of Maps to the Renaissance artwork inside Raphael’s Rooms.

Both tour options end at St Peter’s Basilica, which you have access to via a VIP entrance. Inside, prepare to be wowed by art like Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture and Bernini’s Baldacchino canopy. When your tour ends and you say goodbye to your guide, you are welcome to stay inside St Peter’s Basilica.

Doriana was such a knowledgeable and engaging guide and made the experience so much more interesting than it would have been on our own. Absolutely worth getting up early to beat the crowds!

Breakfast at the Vatican
Trenise_J
, May 2022
The breakfast was amazing although the folks serving us were very unfriendly and nothing was explained when we went in the establishment. It was still worth it tho, the amount of food and beverage more than made up for not knowing what was happening. At first we were only given 20 min to go in, be seated and eat, but it turned into 30 min so that was enough time. We really enjoyed the personalized tour

It seems the tables are turned upside down. I had three days in Rome booked this tour was on day 2 and the operator cancels the tour less than 12 hours before I was to go on the tour. Never booking with Viator again

We are very sorry about your experience. Like many companies in the travel industry, City Wonders faced an unprecedented post-pandemic surge in demand during the past few weeks. This combined with Covid-related impacts caused operational issues, which we are working around the clock to resolve as quickly as possible. What you experienced is not the typical excellent service that City Wonders is known for, and we truly apologize. Please contact us directly if you have any extra queries with your full name & Viator booking reference at customer.service@citywonders.com.

We thought this tour was very worthwhile. Our guide was friendly, passionate and energetic. The ear pieces for the tour really enhanced the experience. She was easy to hear and we learned so much about the priceless artwork we were viewing. Breakfast was delicious and in such a beautiful location. By the end of the tour the museum was getting crowded, but it was still comfortable to view the Sistine Chapel in a quiet setting. We felt like we had the space to move around. Meeting location was easy to find. Worth every penny to not stand in the long line outside the museum.

The map wall hanging portion of the museum and The Sistine Chapel. Our guide was great but there were static issues with her radio so it was hard to hear her.

The tour guide, Federicka, was wonderful. The breakfast is a full breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, rolls and cappuccino. It exceeded our expectations. It is set in the Vatican museum gardens. The rest of the tour was also fantastic. We Absolutely recommend this tour.
