Meet your guide in Mirabellplatz in central Salzburg. Hop aboard your coach and begin your journey, passing the historic Hellbrunn Castle before crossing the border into Bavaria. Gaze out at the alpine scenery as you travel along the Konigsee River Valley and mountains peppered with farmhouses.

Arrive at the mountainside hamlet of Obersalzburg. Snake up the scenic road on a brief shuttle ride, passing the mountain of Hoher Göll. Then, debark and step inside a World War II-era elevator made from brass, which once transported Hitler’s guests to the Eagle’s Nest. At the top, bypass the crowds with a direct access ticket and enter the complex.

Built for Hitler’s 50th birthday, wander the site with your guide, learning the history behind it as you go. Soak up the incredible views as you look out from a perch of some 5,000 feet (1,524 meters) above ground.

Afterward, visit the charming town of Berchtesgaden to explore independently and purchase lunch. Your half-day excursion will conclude with drop-off at your original departure point in Salzburg.

Feel the history with a visit to Eagle's Nest

Beautiful views on a clear sunny day. I had a hard time understanding everything our guide Walter said because the microphone was muffled and his accent was heavy. We had a large group so he gave all the info on the bus before we set off on our own. I would have liked to walk through with the guide telling me about where I was standing. I googled to get more information about the Eagle's Nest. The stop for lunch was only an hour and that felt rushed.

Enjoyed the tour very much. Our tour guide Ann Marie was very knowledgeable and professional. The entire tour went smoothly to the Eagles Nest and it was a gorgeous view. Lunch stop in Berchtesgaden was a nice touch where we enjoyed a delicious German meal.

The tour and its location is great, definitely worth seeing. The tour guide (Walter) was witty and very knowledgeable. The trip was comfortable in the minibus and later in the city bus up the mountain. There was enough time for us in the eagles nest to explore and then have a cup of coffee with great view. Definitely would recommend:)

The visit up at the Eagle's Nest is really quick as the house is not that big. However the view is beautiful. The visit of the village was also nice. But what made the tour great was our guide. Had a lot of stories about the places and the history and also some useful tips in Salzburg.

Seamless tour as far as skip the line was concerned. Loved that! Very interesting tour and lovely views. Only had enough time to grab a bite in Berchtesgaden, so did not have a minute to explore the town. Overall a pleasant tour.

Skip the line was well worth it, as we did not need transport to the pickup area and the lines were long. The commentary on the bus was entertaining and informative. The view at Eagle's Nest was wonderful. This was a highlight of our trip to Germany.

The tour is a two faced tour since is an historical tour and also a sightseeing tour. For the historical part I am an history buff and I knew most of the history related to this place, the only more I needed to have was a visit. The view from the terraces are outstanding, they say that is possible to see 200 miles from there in a clear day...the view and the nest makes this tour a nice complement to a visit in the area
